Mr. Masaki Kawhara, Director of the Kyushu Economic Bureau of Japan, thanked Nghe An province for its reception and facilitation for the delegation to survey agricultural development. |
Some issues of interest to the Japanese delegation include: Current status of tea and vegetable cultivation and production in Nghe An; What support policies do the Government and localities have for tea and vegetable production, especially policies to support land lease for agricultural production.
Answering questions from the Japanese delegation, Mr. Nguyen Van Lap - Deputy Director of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development explained: Tea production in Nghe An in particular, the harvested tea area is 6,000 hectares, the output is 14,000 tons of dry tea/year, Nghe An tea has the advantage of being harvested in 10 months/year.
The quality of Nghe An tea buds is quite good. However, processing technology is backward, so Nghe An tea products are mainly exported at low prices. If supported in terms of technology and construction of processing factories, Nghe An tea can satisfy the tastes of "difficult" countries.
Nghe An has favorable climate conditions for the production of many types of vegetables. Every year, the province produces over 32,000 tons of vegetables, but the vegetable products are mainly for domestic consumption. Therefore, we hope that the Japanese side will survey and introduce new vegetable varieties and clean production processes to Nghe An.
