(Baonghean.vn) - A male student suddenly bit off his friend's ear, then immediately swallowed it. Immediately after, doctors and nurses performed an endoscopy to remove the ear piece from the patient's stomach in the hope of reattaching it to the patient who was bitten.

On the afternoon of October 4, according to a doctor from the Department of Otorhinolaryngology, Nghe An General Hospital, at 5:00 p.m. on October 2, the department received patient Tr. D.T, born in 2003, residing in Chau Ly commune, Quy Hop district, with a severed outer ear.

According to the victim's family, D.T is currently a student at a high school in Quy Hop. His house is 15km away from the school, so he has to rent a room. At noon on October 2, while he was washing rice and cooking in his rented room, he was suddenly hugged and bitten off his belt by VM D, born in 2001, a student at the same school. After biting it off, D.T swallowed the bitten ear.

After the incident, the family took Tr. Đ. T and VM Đ to Tay Bac General Hospital. There, doctors performed first aid on T, and then performed an endoscopy to remove the ear piece from Đ's abdomen.

With the hope of being able to have surgery to reattach his ear, patient D.T was transferred to the Provincial General Hospital.

Receiving the patient at 5:00 p.m., the hospital's ENT Department conducted tests, checked the patient's overall health, and waited for the patient's family to bring the bitten ear piece to the hospital in the hope of reattaching it.

At 9:00 p.m. on October 2, the ear piece taken from VM Đ's abdomen was also brought to the Provincial General Hospital, but it had been more than 6 hours (the time it could be reattached after being severed) and had been infected by gastric fluids, so the reattachment could not be performed. And then the doctors and nurses reconstructed T's ear using a flap technique.

Currently, patient Tr. D.T's health is gradually recovering. The case is being investigated by the authorities.
