(Baonghean.vn)- In 2018, the Provincial Agricultural Extension Center (AEC) successfully directed the construction of 10 models, with 17 households participating in the demonstration.

Last year, the models of raising giant freshwater prawns in rice fields in Thanh Chuong, Nghia Dan districts and Vinh city; the model of raising crispy grass carp and crispy common carp in Thai Hoa town and Yen Thanh district; the model of raising crispy carp according to VietGAP in Do Luong district; raising black carp with industrial feed in Hung Nguyen district; raising sea bass and grouper in ineffective shrimp ponds in Hoang Mai town were effective.

There are also models of raising climbing fish in cages in Quy Chau district; raising loach with product consumption in Do Luong district; and intensive shrimp farming using BIOFLOC technology in Quynh Luu and Dien Chau districts. Up to this point, the models have been approved and shown economic efficiency.

The most prominent model is the model of linking tilapia farming according to VietGAP with product consumption, on a scale of 3 hectares deployed on 3 households in Dien Yen commune, Dien Chau district. The new disease situation caused by Tilapia lake virus (TiLV) on tilapia in 2017 did not return despite being affected by weather conditions, hot sun at the beginning of the farming season.

After nearly 6 months of farming, all 3 households had a harvest with a total output of 61.2 tons, a yield of over 20 tons/ha, an increase of 145% compared to the estimate. The households earned over 1.7 billion VND, after deducting expenses, the model gave a net profit of over 176 million VND/3ha, an income 3-4 times higher than previous rice cultivation.

Through evaluation based on 104 criteria according to Decision 1233 of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development on guidelines for applying VietGAP for commercial tilapia, 03/03 construction sites achieved VietGAP certification, changing the mindset of self-sufficiency, creating momentum for building clean raw material areas, supplying the domestic market and aiming for export in the future.

The second model to mention is intensive shrimp farming using BIOFLOC technology (02 points) at Mr. Ho Sy Tai's household, hamlet 12, Dien Trung commune, Dien Chau district with an area of 2,000 m2, releasing 240,000 shrimp, size P12.

After 92 days of farming, the survival rate reached 80%, the shrimp size reached 60 shrimp/kg, yielding 16 tons/ha/crop, commercial shrimp output was 3.2 tons, selling price was 130 thousand VND/kg, earning 416 million VND, after deducting expenses, net profit was 146 million VND.

The second household is Mr. Nguyen Van Khanh, Hamlet 6, Quynh Minh Commune, Quynh Luu with an area of 1,500 m2, stocking 180,000 shrimp, size P12. After nearly 4 months of raising, the shrimp reached a size of 50 shrimp/kg, survival rate 90%, yield 3,240 kg, the household owner earned 463 million VND, net profit 150 million VND.

The application of this farming technology uses 100% biological products to create Biopfloc throughout the farming process and contributes to disease prevention, helping 2 farming households reduce feed costs to FCR below 1.1, limit diseases, thereby reducing input costs of production and giving relatively high and stable economic efficiency, and especially ensuring clean commercial shrimp that is favored by the market.

Next, the model of raising giant freshwater prawns in rice fields in Nghia Duc commune (Nghia Dan), Thanh Linh commune (Thanh Chuong) also promoted positive results.

In addition, we must also mention the model of producing clam seeds (Meretrix lyrata) on a commercial scale: This is the first clam seed production model in the province, which has contributed to proactively obtaining local clam seeds with quality and low prices (average 3.9 VND/grade II seed, size 1-2mm) instead of commercial clam farmers having to get clam seeds from distant provinces and of unknown origin at high prices.

From the success of the fisheries extension models in 2018, it can be seen that: The models must be built from the requirements of production practices, applying new and effective technical advances, the people selected to participate must be passionate, open-minded and have sufficient counterpart funding. After the model is completed, it needs to be summarized, fully evaluated and widely replicated by managers, experts and fishermen./.
