Right from the 5th day of Lunar New Year, along the hillside of Nghia Binh commune, districtTan Ky, people have been actively planting spring forests. Mrs. Tran Thi Hien, who is planting forests, said: Last year, the price of acacia was good, so we were excited. After the harvest, the family hired workers to process the ground cover, dig holes, and after the Lunar New Year, they hired workers to plant 4 hectares of spring forests. It is expected that in about 15 days, the planting of raw material forests will be completed.
Mr. Nguyen Van Thang - Chairman of the People's Committee of Nghia Binh Commune (Tan Ky) said: This year, the whole commune planted over 300 hectares. During the Lunar New Year, people processed the ground cover and dug holes, and have now planted 100 hectares of spring forest. To achieve high productivity, the commune's technical staff has instructed people on the process of planting and caring for acacia, such as phosphate fertilization before planting, and 3 months after planting, weeding and fertilizing with phosphorus and nitrogen for acacia to grow well.
In recent years, the planting of raw material forests in Nghia Binh commune has developed strongly, thanks to this profession, helping people improve their lives, many households have become rich. The commune is encouraging people to plant large timber forests to increase economic value per unit area.
According to the report of the Department of Agriculture of Tan Ky district, in 2023, the province assigned the district to plant over 1,700 hectares, in the spring crop this year alone, the district planted over 2,000 hectares, up to this point the district has planted over 1,500 hectares.

Tan Ky district has advantages and potential for developing raw acacia trees. However, the difficulty is that up to now, forest growers have not received coordination between enterprises in the organization of forestry production and development, specifically a commitment to purchase raw materials, so the output is unstable.

In Yen Thanh district, the Yen Thanh district Protective Forest Management Board has created over 1.8 million quality seedlings in nurseries to supply to communes for forest planting. According to the plan assigned by the province, Yen Thanh district planted 1,500 forests, but it is expected that the district will plant 2,200 hectares (exceeding 700 hectares).
The leader of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Yen Thanh district informed that the forest planting exceeded the target because this year the price of raw acacia increased, so people exploited and planted a lot of new trees.
To make the forest planting work effective, Yen Thanh District People's Committee has assigned technical staff from the Department of Agriculture and the Agricultural Extension Station to coordinate with communes to guide people on the technical process of planting and caring for raw material forests, establish an inspection team on seed records, seed origin, and inventory the nursery work at seedling production facilities before leaving the garden, to ensure quality.

According to the report of the Forestry Department, in 2023, Nghe An aims to plant more than 18,500 hectares of new raw material forests to meet the needs of wood processing factories in the area. This year's spring crop alone, the whole province will plant 6,500 hectares (of which about 500 hectares are planted with large timber forests). Currently, localities are actively planting spring forests to ensure progress, up to this point, more than 1,700 hectares of spring forests have been planted, and spring forest planting will be completed by the end of March 2022.
In the province, production units, establishments and people have prepared over 6 million seedlings of various types for spring forest planting. In addition, the functional sector has strengthened the management of forestry seed quality, selected suitable plants, prepared good quality seedlings and increased the rate of using tissue culture and cuttings; taken advantage of favorable seasons and weather to plant forests to ensure a high survival rate; applied technical advances in planting large timber forests, improved productivity, quality and value of planted forests; carried out forest care, management and protection, and assigned specific management responsibilities so that plants and planted forests can grow well.
