Nghe An strives to take care of Tet for the meritorious and the poor
These days, all levels, sectors and localities are making efforts to mobilize resources to have the most meaningful gifts to give to the meritorious and the poor, hoping that everyone will have a warm and fulfilling Tet.
Warm and affectionate
On New Year's Day, the house of Mr. Le Van Long, a 1/4 disabled veteran in Hung Dao commune, Hung Nguyen district, was filled with laughter because all his children and grandchildren had returned. Mr. Long said: "After a lifetime of military service, now I return to my hometown, I can live in the village and enjoy the neighborhood, and have fun with my children and grandchildren. Especially, I am very happy with the attention of the local government and social organizations."
His wife, Doan Thi Thoi, is also a 4/4 war invalid. Because of their poor health, whenever he is sick or has a change in the weather, Mr. Long receives the attention of neighbors and local authorities. Every time he has to go to the hospital to treat a relapse of his old injury, the commune sends people to visit him and provide material and spiritual support. Every time Tet comes, the gifts he and his wife receive are always full of love.

Mr. Long said that not only the two of them are the meritorious people who enjoy these policies in the commune, but also 165 meritorious people and those who enjoy policies like meritorious people receive attention from the Party Committee, government and political and social organizations here.

Besides,near-poor households and disadvantaged householdsalso received attention from Hung Dao commune. Mr. Nguyen Van Duy has been a poor household for many years in hamlet 5. His house has been dilapidated for many years. In mid-2024, thanks to support from the commune's Fatherland Front and authorities at all levels, Mr. Duy received 50 million VND to build a new house. However, the cost to build a new house must be around 100 million VND, and he did not know where to raise the remaining money. Understanding the situation of Mr. Duy's family, the commune's Fatherland Front and the hamlet's Executive Committee mobilized neighbors to help Mr. Duy borrow the remaining money. The inauguration day of the "dream house" was also the day that Mr. Duy's family cried tears of joy because finally the family had a house to live in, escaped poverty to build a new, better life.
