Nghe An province cracks major drug trafficking ring, seizes over 18,000 pills of narcotics.
In the early hours of December 15th, the Narcotics Crime Investigation Department of the Nghe An Provincial Police, in coordination with relevant units, successfully dismantled a major drug trafficking ring, arresting three suspects and seizing over 18,000 synthetic drug pills and 185 grams of heroin.
According to the Nghe An Provincial Police, right from the first days of the intensified campaign to attack and suppress crime, the Drug Crime Investigation Department, in coordination with the police of Quy Hop, Muong Ham, and Muong Quang communes, along with other professional units and the Customs Sub-department of Region XI, established a special case to combat a drug trafficking ring.Illegal buying, selling, and transporting of narcotics.Inter-communal activities.
Through intelligence gathering, authorities discovered that Chau Van Cuong (born in 1968, residing in Quy Hop commune) showed many suspicious signs regarding his finances and frequently appeared in the hilly areas of Que Phong district (formerly), meeting with individuals involved in drug trafficking.

The investigation revealed that Cuong colluded with Sam Thi Hien (born in 1975) and Lo Van Tuan (born in 2001), both residing in Muong Quang commune, to form a drug trafficking ring that illegally transported narcotics from the former Que Phong area to various locations. In this ring, Hien played the role of mastermind and leader, directly sourcing drugs from Mong ethnic individuals in the border area, and then handing them over to Cuong for distribution.
The suspects operate with sophisticated methods, taking advantage of the cover of darkness and mountainous terrain to deliver and receive goods, with payments made entirely in cash. When transporting and concealing drugs, they do not keep the "goods" at their residences to avoid detection and hinder investigations.
After a period of surveillance and gathering sufficient documents and evidence, at approximately 3:00 AM on December 15, 2025, the special task force decided to crack the case. Law enforcement officers divided into three teams and simultaneously arrested and searched three suspects, seizing 18,200 synthetic drug pills, 30 packets of heroin weighing a total of 185 grams, and a small weighing scale.
At the investigative agency, the suspects admitted to their crimes. The case is currently under further investigation and expansion.
