Nghe An strives to achieve export turnover of 1.2 billion USD by 2020

(Baonghean.vn) - On September 8, comrade Le Xuan Dai, member of the Provincial Party Committee, Permanent Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee chaired a meeting to listen to and give opinions on the Project "Export Development in Nghe An Province for the period 2016-2020".

Attending the meeting were representatives of provincial departments, branches and People's Committees of districts, cities and towns.

In recent times, export activities in the province have continuously grown in many criteria: turnover, market, goods and export participants, achieving and exceeding the targets set by the Resolution of the 17th Provincial Party Congress.

In the period 2011-2015, the total export turnover in the province increased from 483.3 million USD (2011) to 705.1 million USD (2015), achieving an average growth rate of 11.14%/year. Enterprises in the province actively expanded the export market to 96 countries and regions.

Ms. Vo Thi An, Deputy Director of the Department of Industry and Trade, reported on the export situation in the province in recent times.

Entering the 2016-2020 period, the goal is to promote industrialization, modernization, enhance deep processing, apply advanced science and technology to increase the value of exported goods; limit the export of raw products, low value; create more jobs, increase foreign currency revenue... strive to achieve 1.2 billion USD in export turnover in the province by 2020.

The Project on Export Development in Nghe An Province for the period 2016-2020 sets out specific targets: Regarding the export turnover of goods, the average growth rate in this period is 15.8%/year. By 2020, the export turnover of goods is expected to reach 850-900 million USD, accounting for 70.8%-75% of the total export turnover of the province. Regarding the export of labor and services, by 2020, the export turnover of goods is expected to reach 300-350 million USD, accounting for 25%-29.1% of the total export turnover.

In the period of 2016-2020, Nghe An identified 15 main export groups/commodities, including: wood products, peanuts, tea, cassava products of all kinds, seafood products, processed fruit products, processed minerals, textiles, garments, handicrafts and craft village products, rubber, coffee, electronics, children's toys, pine resin products and construction materials.

At the meeting, representatives of departments and branches agreed to propose solutions to boost exports in the next 5 years, specifically solutions to create export sources: Planning raw material areas, developing production and processing of export goods; Actively calling for domestic and foreign investment in Nghe An to invest in production of export goods.

In addition, increase the mobilization of internal resources, joint ventures and associations to develop, expand production and collect export goods. At the same time, implement solutions: increase the search and expansion of export markets; Improve the competitiveness of export products; Improve management capacity and competitiveness of enterprises; Train human resources.

Contributing to the content of the Draft, the opinions of the delegates focused on a number of contents: The Department of Industry and Trade needs to organize a workshop to get practical opinions from enterprises directly exporting; the Draft needs to add a forecast of the market situation in the coming time and orient products that can be exported well; specifically identify raw material areas for localities to develop; strengthen foreign affairs and international cooperation to boost exports...

Concluding the meeting, comrade Le Xuan Dai requested: The Department of Industry and Trade fully absorbs the delegates' comments to supplement and complete the project. The project content needs to group export goods more closely; orient key export goods; identify specific solutions, create export goods that meet market requirements, diversify export markets, avoid dependence on one market...
