Nghe An strives to welcome and serve 5.5 million tourists with accommodation in 2024

(Baonghean.vn) - On the afternoon of December 28, Nghe An Department of Tourism held a conference to deploy tourism development tasks in 2024.

Attending the conference were comrades: Bui Dinh Long - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; Vo Van Dung - Member of the Provincial Party Executive Committee, Deputy Head of the Provincial Party Committee's Propaganda Department; Nguyen Manh Cuong - Director of the Department of Tourism.

Also attending were representatives of leaders of provincial departments, branches, sectors and units; leaders of districts, cities and towns in the province.

In 2023, the tourism industry overcame many difficulties and challenges to achieve positive results. Infrastructure serving tourism activities continued to be improved and investment was focused on improving service quality. The province currently has 902 accommodation establishments, with more than 21,950 rooms, including 4 5-star hotels, 11 4-star hotels, 22 3-star hotels, and more than 20 1-2 star hotels.

The province currently has 68 travel agencies and branches located in Nghe An, including 39 international travel agencies and branches, and 29 domestic travel agencies. There are 341 tour guides, including 105 international tour guides, 176 domestic tour guides, and 60 on-site tour guides.

In 2023, the Department has had many solutions to effectively apply information technology to tourism promotion on media and social networks. Promote tourism development linkage between Nghe An and key tourism localities across the country.

Total number of guests staying will reach 5.28 million (equal to 120% compared to 2022), of which international guests will reach 77,500 (equal to 231% compared to 2022); tourism revenue is expected to reach VND 7,800 billion (equal to 139% compared to 2022).

In 2024, the tourism industry is determined to continue effectively implementing programs and resolutions of the Central and the province to promote strengths, potentials and advantages in tourism; speed up the progress of key investment projects associated with improving the quality of tourism products, diversifying services, building an attractive tourism environment to attract more visitors and spending levels of tourists.

Strive for 2024, the total number of tourists with accommodation will reach 5.5 million (equal to 104% compared to 2023), including 120,000 international visitors (equal to 155% compared to 2023), tourism service revenue will reach 9,000 billion VND (equal to 115% compared to 2023).

Speaking at the conference, Mr. Bui Dinh Long - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee acknowledged and commended the achievements of the tourism industry in 2023. At the same time, he requested the industry to focus on implementing a number of important tasks in 2024, which is to implement key solutions to accelerate recovery and accelerate effective and sustainable tourism development.

Accelerate the progress of key investment projects associated with improving the quality of tourism products, diversifying services, and building an attractive tourism environment. Improve the effectiveness of tourism promotion to effectively exploit domestic and international tourist markets. Continue to promote cooperation and linkage activities in tourism development with provinces and cities in the country to link Nghe An to the chain of inter-provincial and inter-regional tourism products to attract visitors and improve the competitiveness of Nghe An tourism.

At the Conference, the Provincial Tourism Development Steering Committee announced the Nghe An Tourism Development Strategy to 2030, with a vision to 2035.
