Nghe An launches National Action Month on Population
(Baonghean.vn) - Organizing activities in response to the National Action Month on Population aims to receive support and active participation from Party committees at all levels, authorities, departments, branches, unions, social organizations, and people of all walks of life in the face of new issues in current population work.
Morning of November 25,Steering CommitteePopulationand Provincial Development, the Department of Health in coordination with the People's Committee of Hung Nguyen district organized the launching ceremony in response to the National Action Month on Population and the 59th anniversary of Vietnam Population Day.

Over the past 60 years, our Party and State have always affirmed: Population is the root of all problems, an important foundation for sustainable national and ethnic development. On that basis, the National Action Month on Population in 2020 was launched with the theme "Improving population quality to contribute to rapid and sustainable national development" to once again affirm the role and importance of population work for each family and the whole society.
Speaking at the launching ceremony, comrade Duong Dinh Chinh - Director of the Department of Health, Deputy Head of the Standing Steering Committee for Population and Development of the province also mentioned the difficulties and challenges facing the province's population work.

Especially when nowadays, the birth rate and thethird childand above is still very high and the province has the second highest birth rate in the country, just after Ha Tinh province. In addition, Nghe An is facing an imbalanced gender ratio at birth, aging population and although population quality has been improved, it is still low, especially in remote, rural and coastal areas.
To effectively focus on solving the above challenges, in the coming time, Nghe An needs to continue to strengthen the Party's leadership and invest government resources in population work.

In addition, it is necessary to innovate and improve the effectiveness of propaganda and education work to implement the campaign "Each couple should have 2 children". Promote the self-awareness, voluntariness and mutual supervision of the community; promote the exemplary role of each cadre and party member in association with building cultural families, villages, hamlets and units.
At the same time, effectively implement intervention solutions to improve population quality; proactively adjust population growth rate, restrain the increase in sex ratio at birth; propose solutions to promote the advantages of the "golden population" structure and respond to "population aging"; ensure logistics of family planning services.

The National Action Month on Population will be implemented from December 1 to December 31, 2020. During this time, we will promote activities to mobilize, communicate and educate on changing population behavior, contributing to the completion of the 2020 plan targets.
The focus is on improving population quality through reproductive health care activities for adolescents and young people; pre-marital health consultation and examination; screening, diagnosis and early treatment of prenatal and neonatal diseases; and reducing gender imbalance at birth.

At the launching ceremony, the Steering Committee for Population and Development presented gifts to 18 families that have implemented population policies well in Hung Nguyen district.
