Nghe An launches National Action Month on Population
“National Action Month on Population” aims to raise awareness and promote the responsibility of authorities at all levels, unions, social organizations, each family and the whole society for the sustainable development of the country.
On the morning of December 4, at Thanh Chuong 3 High School, the Provincial Steering Committee for Population and Development held a ceremony to launch the National Action Month on Population and celebrate the 63rd anniversary of Vietnam Population Day (December 26, 1961 - December 26, 2024).
Also attending was Ms. Hoang Thi Thom - Deputy Director of the Department of Population - Ministry of Health.
On the side of Nghe An province, there were comrades: Vo Van Dung - Member of the Provincial Party Executive Committee, Deputy Head of the Provincial Party Committee's Propaganda Department; Nguyen Van Thuong - Deputy Director of the Department of Health; Hoang Dinh Tung - Head of the Population Sub-Department; Nguyen Huu Hien - Vice Chairman of Thanh Chuong District People's Committee and related departments and branches.

Speaking at the launching ceremony, Comrade Nguyen Van Thuong - Deputy Director of the Department of Health affirmed the important role of population work for the sustainable development of the country and the nation. Population work is a strategic task, both urgent and long-term; it is the cause of the entire Party and the entire people.
In recent times, with the attention and direction of Party committees at all levels, authorities, departments, branches and unions, population work in general and the annual National Action Month on Population in particular have achieved many remarkable results.

Thanks to that, the rapid population growth rate has been basically controlled, population quality has been improved; the small family model has become the norm, spreading and permeating throughout society; awareness of the meaning and importance of population and development work has been increasingly enhanced.
These important results have contributed significantly to the socio-economic development achievements of the province. At the same time, it is a testament to the deep understanding of the content of Resolution 21 of the Party Central Committee on Population work in the new situation.

However, in addition to the achieved results, population work in the province still faces many difficulties and challenges. That requires a clearer awareness of the importance of implementing well the current population work.
In which, the implementation is goodNational Action Month on Population 2024with the theme: "Improving population quality for a prosperous country and happy families" are positive activities to successfully complete goals and tasks in 2024 and create a premise and motivation for the following years.

In order to transform the challenges of population work in the entire Nghe An province and respond to the theme of the National Action Month on Population in 2024, in the coming time, the leaders of the Department of Health requested that localities and relevant departments strengthen the leadership of the Party and invest government resources in population work. Make population work a key content in the leadership and direction of Party committees and authorities at all levels.
At the same time, it is necessary to improve the effectiveness of communication and education work, promote the self-awareness, voluntariness and mutual supervision of the community; promote the exemplary role of each cadre and party member in association with building cultural families, villages, hamlets and units.

In addition, it is necessary to effectively implement intervention solutions to improve population quality; proactively adjust the population growth rate, restrain the increase in the sex ratio at birth; propose solutions to promote the advantages of the "golden population" structure and respond to "population aging".
Speaking at the launching ceremony, Deputy Director of the Department of Population - Ministry of Health Hoang Thi Thom highly appreciated the achievements that Nghe An province's population work has achieved in the past time. At the same time, she sympathized and shared the difficulties and challenges of population work in the province in the current context. As a large, populous province, while the whole country has achieved the replacement fertility rate, Nghe An is still one of the provinces with a high fertility rate; the birth rate of the third child or more is still high.

The National Action Month on Population and Vietnam Population Day 2024 are also an opportunity to continue to focus on disseminating the purpose, meaning, importance and effectiveness of implementing services to improve population quality. Effectively organize propaganda, mobilization and provision of reproductive health care and family planning services to improve population quality.
