Nghe An launches the 2017 Food Safety Action Month.
(Baonghean.vn) - The 2017 Food Safety Action Month has the theme "Safe production, business and consumption of fresh food, alcohol control, and prevention of alcohol poisoning".

In 2016 and during the Lunar New Year of 2017, Nghe An province established nearly 1,440 inspection teams, conducting inspections of nearly 29,340 establishments. As a result, over 5,710 establishments were found to be in violation; nearly 2,730 establishments were penalized; and 388 establishments were fined a total of nearly 764 million VND. In 2016 and the first three months of 2017, the province experienced 11 food poisoning incidents, resulting in two fatalities.

The report from the Nghe An Provincial Food Safety and Hygiene Department clearly states: In recent times, the work of ensuring food safety has received close attention and guidance from the Party Committee, government, and relevant agencies, achieving high effectiveness. However, this work still faces many difficulties and limitations; unsafe food is still prevalent in the market.
The 2017 Food Safety Action Month, organized by Nghe An province, aims to improve the effectiveness of management in general as well as raise awareness among the people. Launched by Nghe An province with the theme "Safe production, business and consumption of fresh food; alcohol control, prevention of alcohol poisoning," the 2017 Food Safety Action Month will be implemented from April 15th to May 15th.

At the launching ceremony, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Le Minh Thong stated: This is a peak period for ensuring food safety, aiming to raise awareness and improve the behavior of people, establishments, and organizations producing and trading safe food.
All levels and sectors must focus on communication to warn of the harmful effects and prevent the use of chemicals or industrial alcohol in wine production, and the use of banned substances in livestock farming; strictly control pesticide residue levels in vegetables and fruits, and chemical, antibiotic, and microbial contamination levels in meat and farmed seafood. Strengthen inspection and enforcement to strictly handle violations in the field of food safety.
