Nghe An: 1.3kg baby girl found in cardboard box in front of house gate
(Baonghean.vn) - Early in the morning, Mr. Nguyen Duc Anh left his house and discovered a small cardboard box containing a baby girl weighing about 1.3 kg. The baby was then taken to the commune health station for emergency treatment.
On the afternoon of April 18, Mr. Dau Phi Chau - Chairman of the People's Committee of Tan Son commune, Quynh Luu district said: The girl was discovered early in the morning in front of the house gate by Mr. Nguyen Duc Anh, resident of hamlet 4.
“After discovering the incident, Mr. Nguyen Duc Anh took the baby to the commune health station to report. There, doctors and midwives provided first aid and then transferred the baby girl to Quynh Luu District General Hospital. There, because the baby was too light, the doctors took her to Nghe An Obstetrics and Pediatrics Hospital for convenient monitoring and care,” said Mr. Chau.

Ms. Truong Thi Hue, an officer at Tan Son Commune Health Station, said: “As a midwife at the Commune Health Station and based on my experience, this baby girl was born at around 4am this morning (April 18), she weighed 1.3kg and was about 8 months old. Notably, when Mr. Anh brought her to the Commune Health Station to report, I opened her up and saw that the placenta was still stuck to her body and the amniotic fluid was wet. After that, we cut the umbilical cord, washed her warm and used a machine to cool her down. There were no unusual signs on her body…”, Ms. Hue added.
Nguyen Duc Anh, the person who discovered the baby in the cardboard box in front of his house, said: “At around 5am, I left the house and went to the commune to turn on the loudspeaker (Anh is a commune official in charge of turning on the loudspeaker every day - PV). When I left the gate, I saw a dog biting and dragging a tightly wrapped cardboard box with a plastic handle in front of the gate. I thought it was a trash box, so I gently pushed it against the wall with my paw and continued my work. When I returned, I still saw the box lying there.
About 2 hours later, I went out and heard a cry coming from inside the box. Curiously, I opened it and was shocked to find a newborn baby. Seeing the baby crying, I cried too and ran into the house to call everyone to take him to the commune health station for emergency treatment," Anh shared.
