Nghe An: Rare bear discovered in captivity for 3 years
(Baonghean.vn) - The bear, about 4 years old and weighing nearly 200 kg, was identified as a moon bear. This is a bear species listed as endangered, precious, and rare and is prioritized for protection.
On December 23, the Environmental Investigation Police Department, Nghe An Provincial Police, discovered and handled a case of illegal captivity of a rare bear weighing nearly 200 kg in Dien Chau district, Nghe An province.
Through professional work, the Environmental Investigation Police Department determined that at the house of Mr. Ngo Sy Duc (born in 1961), residing in Hamlet 4, Dien Thap Commune, Dien Chau District, they were illegally raising and keepingwildlife.

After collecting the necessary information, the Environmental Investigation Police Department coordinated with Dien Chau District Police to conduct a search and discovered a bear about 4 years old, weighing nearly 200 kg with black fur and a white border around the neck, identified asbearThis is a bear species listed as endangered, precious, rare and prioritized for protection.
Working with the police, Mr. Ngo Sy Duc stated that this was a bear that his family had kept as a pet since 2017. The authorities have drawn up a record of the incident to handle it in accordance with the law.
The bear is currently being cared for at Muong Thanh Dien Lam Ecological Area, Dien Chau District, Nghe An Province and will soon be handed over to the Vietnam Bear Rescue Center at Tam Dao National Park.
