At the time of the incident, excavator driver Nguyen Duy Hung (born in 1985), residing in Hamlet 2, Nhan Son Commune, Do Luong, was shoveling dirt onto a truck driven by Nguyen Van Linh (born in 1990), residing in Quynh Chau, Quynh Luu District.

The authorities coordinated with local authorities to draw up a record and request the suspension and temporary detention of the violating vehicles.

Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Huy Quan - Team Leader, Environmental Police Department, Nghe An Province Police said: To avoid inspection and detection by the authorities, the subjects carried out their acts mainly at night. In addition, the mining area has only one road leading in, and during the mining process, there are subjects standing outside to alert the subjects carrying out the acts inside to stop when there is an inspection and detection by the authorities. The subjects even used large trucks to dump soil across the road to make it difficult for the authorities to approach the scene.

It is worth mentioning that this situation has recurred many times but has not been completely resolved, causing significant impacts on the lives of surrounding residents.

Mr. Nguyen Dinh Van, a resident of Tho Son commune, Anh Son district, added: The mining area is located on the border between Thanh Son and Tho Son communes of Anh Son district. People living around here have long had to endure dust and noise. Every time a vehicle transports soil, we have to endure thick layers of dust covering all household items, sometimes even having to put down our bowls at mealtimes because of the dust.

The police force proceeded to draw up a record and take statements from the relevant subjects. Photo:Minh Khoi

The case is currently being investigated, clarified and handled by the Environmental Police Department of Nghe An Province according to the provisions of law.

In the coming time, Nghe An Police will continue to carry out many plans to completely resolve the above situation, as well as illegal mining of other minerals in the area.
