Nghe An issues urgent dispatch to respond to storm Ma-on
(Baonghean.vn) - The Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention, Search and Rescue and Civil Defense of Nghe An province has just issued a dispatch to respond to storm Ma-on that has just formed off the coast of the Philippines.
According to the news ofNational Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, at 1:00 p.m. on August 23, the center of storm Ma-on was located at about 17.9 degrees North latitude; 121.8 degrees East longitude, in the northeastern area of Luzon Island (Philippines). The strongest wind near the center of the storm was level 10, gusting to level 12..
It is forecasted that in the next 24 hours, the storm will move in a West-Northwest direction, traveling 15-20km per hour, and will enter the northern part of the East Sea around the night of August 23. At 1:00 p.m. on August 24, the storm's center will be at about 19.6 degrees North latitude; 118.3 degrees East longitude, in the northeastern sea area of the North East Sea, about 800km northeast of the Hoang Sa archipelago. The strongest wind near the storm's center is at level 10-11, gusting to level 13.
To proactively respond to the storm's developments, the Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention, Search and Rescue and Civil Defense of Nghe An province requested the Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention, Search and Rescue of coastal districts, cities and towns, along with relevant departments, branches and agencies to direct the effective implementation of a number of measures to promptly respond to the complicated developments of the storm.

The Provincial Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention, Search and Rescue and Civil Defense requests localities, departments and branches to strictly implement Official Dispatch No. 26 dated August 23, 2022 of the National Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Control, the National Committee for Incident Response, Natural Disasters and Search and Rescue; Official Dispatch No. 25 dated August 22, 2022 of the Standing Office of the National Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Control, the Office of the National Committee for Incident Response, Natural Disasters and Search and Rescue.
Localities, departments and sectors need to closely monitor the storm's developments, notify owners of vehicles and captains of ships and boats operating at sea of the storm's location, direction of movement and developments so that they can proactively avoid, escape or not move into dangerous areas. Specifically, the dangerous area in the East Sea in the next 24 hours is determined from the North of latitude 16.5 degrees North; East of longitude 115.5 degrees East.
It is necessary to organize monitoring and counting of ships and boats operating at sea; maintain regular communication with the owners of the vehicles to promptly handle bad situations that may occur. Inform and guide the owners of production facilities to adjust production plans at sea and along the coast in accordance with the developments of the storm. At the same time, be ready with forces and means for rescue when required.
