Nghe An will launch peak crime suppression campaigns before, during and after Tet.

On the morning of December 31, comrade Nguyen Van Thong - Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee chaired the December internal affairs meeting.

In the last month of 2019, the security and order situation in Nghe An province was assessed as basically stable both internally and externally. However, many crimes against social order, economic and environmental management, and drug crimes were still detected.

Specifically, regarding drug crimes, 108 cases with 123 subjects were discovered and arrested, nearly 17 kg of heroin, 193 grams and 45,438 synthetic drug pills, 27.2 grams of crystal meth were seized. In December, the authorities also seized more than 107 kg of explosives, 1,580 kg of firecrackers and 4 tons of animals. Breaking up Project 120N, arresting 2 human trafficking subjects, successfully rescuing 5 victims who were sold to China. Dismantling an online gambling ring, prosecuting 19 defendants, proving the gambling amount of more than 75 billion VND and many other valuable assets. Clarifying 8 property theft cases, arresting 7 subjects and 15 motorbikes.

In December, there were 22 traffic accidents, killing 20 people and injuring 21; 12 fires, causing property damage of about 400 million VND. The provincial police received and resolved 337 crime reports; prosecuted, investigated and accepted 146 cases with 250 suspects; arrested and persuaded 6 wanted subjects to surrender and prepared records to send 16 subjects to compulsory drug rehabilitation centers.

Besides the results that have been handled, there are still some limitations in terms of security and order in December, including the slow progress in resolving some cases assigned by the Provincial Party Standing Committee.

Commenting on the progress and situation of handling cases, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee Nguyen Van Thong requested that relevant agencies coordinate more closely and effectively in resolving specific cases.

The Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee also requested that the authorities strengthen the prevention and handling of crimes related to social evils, trading in firecrackers, counterfeit goods, traffic safety, prevention of harmful effects of alcohol; ensuring food hygiene and safety; monitoring prices during Tet holiday...

The conference also identified the key tasks in the first month of 2020 to focus on leading and directing the assurance of national security and social order and safety. Implementing a plan to ensure absolute safety for important events of the province, high-ranking delegations of the Party and State as well as international guests visiting and working in Nghe An.

The armed forces maintain combat readiness, strengthen internal political protection work and ensure that people have a safe Lunar New Year 2020. Launch peak campaigns to suppress crimes, especially murder, intentional injury, robbery, human trafficking, illegal credit...
