On the afternoon of March 7, Comrade Le Minh Thong - Member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee chaired a meeting to give opinions on the draft plan to celebrate the 70th anniversary of War Invalids and Martyrs Day organized by the Provincial People's Committee. Attending were representatives of the Provincial Fatherland Front Committee, the Provincial People's Committee Office, the Provincial Military Command, the Provincial Youth Union, the Provincial Women's Union, the Provincial Association for Supporting Families of Martyrs, the Provincial Veterans Association, the Departments of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs, Culture, Sports, Finance, etc. |
At the meeting, representatives of the Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs of Nghe An presented 3 drafts: Directive of the Provincial Party Standing Committee on strengthening the leadership and direction of Party committees at all levels regarding the work of people with meritorious services; Plan to organize activities to celebrate the 70th anniversary of War Invalids and Martyrs Day (July 27, 1947 - July 27, 2017); Decision to establish an Organizing Committee to implement the plan.
Accordingly, the organization of the 70th anniversary of War Invalids and Martyrs Day in Nghe An province aims to promote tradition, remember and honor the great contributions of Vietnamese Mothers, heroic martyrs, war invalids, sick soldiers, and people with meritorious services to the revolution; continue to implement well policies for people with meritorious services; promote socialization work, support and help people with meritorious services; launch the movement "Repaying gratitude", creating conditions for war invalids, sick soldiers, and families of martyrs to do good business, build prosperous and happy families.

During the two long and great resistance wars of the nation, together with the people of the whole country, Nghe An had tens of thousands of outstanding sons joining the army, youth volunteers, and frontline laborers on all battlefields as well as serving in combat in their homeland. The whole province had more than 45,000 martyrs who heroically sacrificed their lives, more than 56,000 wounded and sick soldiers. |
The series of activities to celebrate the 70th anniversary of War Invalids and Martyrs Day in Nghe An include: propagating and honoring typical individuals on mass media; organizing a celebration ceremony combined with a conference to meet and commend individuals and families with outstanding contributions; units and individuals who have done well in policies for people with contributions to the revolution; giving gifts to people with contributions (planning to give gifts to 86,365 people with contributions); organizing memorial services at cemeteries; organizing the "Drinking water, remember its source" Festival at the provincial level at the Vietnam - Laos Martyrs Cemetery and lighting candles in gratitude...

At the meeting, delegates focused on giving comments on the draft plan. In his concluding remarks, comrade Le Minh Thong requested the Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs to synthesize comments, supplement activities, participants of the organizing committee, implementation subcommittee, develop a plan, and detailed budget to submit to the Provincial People's Committee for approval soon. The Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee noted: Activities must be solemn, practical and economical to save funds to increase the level of gifts for meritorious people.
