(Baonghean.vn) - After only 2 working days after the Lunar New Year (February 22 and 24), the Household Registration - Identification Team (Administrative Police Department of Social Order, Provincial Police) received and processed nearly 1,500 applications for issuance, change and re-issuance of ID cards for people, 5 times more than normal days.

February 22, the 7th of January, is the first day of ID card issuance and renewal procedures after Tet holiday (according to regulations, ID card issuance and renewal is carried out on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays every week, the remaining days are ID card return days), the Household Registration - Identification Team received and processed 627 ID card issuance and renewal applications for people.

On February 24, although it was Saturday, there were nearly 900 people coming to do the procedures to issue and renew their ID cards. Normally, after the Lunar New Year, the number of people coming to do the procedures to issue and renew their ID cards increases 2-3 times, but this year the number of people coming to do the procedures increased dramatically, about 5 times more than usual.

"On February 22 and 24, there were approximately 1,500 arrivals. We only handle people from other districts, and Vinh City only accepts special cases such as the elderly and sick," said Lieutenant Colonel Tran Thi My Hanh - Captain of the Household Registration - Identification Team, PC64.

Having lost her ID card, Ms. Nguyen Thi Nhat (from Nghia Dan) went to Vinh City to do the quick procedure to get a replacement in time to go to Bac Ninh to find a job. If she did it at the district, she would have to wait at least 15 days, while at the Provincial Police, it only took 3 days. “Because I didn’t know the schedule, I went down yesterday, which coincided with the day to return the ID card, so I couldn’t do it. My brothers and sisters had to rent a room to stay, and came early this morning to do it, but it was too crowded, we waited forever and still didn’t get our turn,” Ms. Nhat said.

Faced with the sudden increase in people's needs, the Provincial Police Department of Administrative Management of Social Order has mobilized 100% of its staff to work, including Saturdays and Sundays.

Lieutenant Colonel Tran Thi My Hanh said: “People from the districts come down, some of them have to travel hundreds of kilometers, so with the determination not to let people go back until the work is done, we are ready to work around the clock. At noon we only stop at nearly 1 pm, and in the afternoon we work until 8 pm. Because the shops are not open yet at the beginning of the year, we only have time to eat a bowl of instant noodles and then go to work, not to let people wait too long.”

In addition to mobilizing staff to work around the clock, even on holidays, the unit coordinates with the Provincial Post Office to return ID cards to the addresses provided by people to reduce costs and travel time for people.
