Mr. Tran Phi Hung - Head of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Thanh Chuong district said: After the storm, the district mobilized all forces to repair the damaged traffic infrastructure. Currently, the army and police forces in the area are working with the people to help the communes repair traffic, build temporary bridges... Mr. Ho Ba Cha - Secretary of the Party Committee of Nam Can commune said: After the rain, the commune mobilized hundreds of people to temporarily fix the eroded traffic roads. In particular, the road to Huoi Poc village after the rain had 2 landslide locations, some rocks weighed dozens of tons. The commune mobilized machines and combined with the strength of the people to roll the rocks to the roadside to ensure traffic safety.

Currently, the transport sector is focusing on directing 12 units with traffic management functions on national and provincial highways to focus on overcoming the consequences of storms and floods. Repairing routes and sections of roads with peeling surfaces, subsidence, damaged roadbeds and patching up broken sections in the districts of Tuong Duong, Anh Son, Que Phong, Thanh Chuong, on Provincial Roads 531, 532, 543, 544, 537A, 537B; National Highway 7B, National Highway 48...

The Department also requires traffic management units and traffic inspectors to be on duty 24/7 at underpasses, weak bridges, and dangerous road sections and points when there are weather warnings to prevent vehicles that do not ensure the safety of people's lives.

According to a quick report on the damage caused by floods in Nghe An province by the Standing Office of the Steering Committee for Disaster Prevention and Control and Search and Rescue of Nghe An province, the recent floods have left 6 people dead and missing.

Specifically, the 5 deceased victims include: Nguyen Trong Huy (15 years old, residing in Linh Son commune, Anh Son district), Vy Bao Tuan (13 years old, residing in Phuc Son commune, Anh Son district); Nguyen Thi Duc (29 years old, residing in hamlet 12, Khanh Son commune, Nam Dan district), Pham Van Phuc (17 years old, residing in hamlet 7, Nam Thanh commune, Nam Dan district) and Le Thi Thanh Tam (8 years old, village 4, Tao Son commune, Anh Son district).

There are 2 missing people: Nguyen Van Quang (26 years old, residing in village 1, Linh Son commune, Anh Son district), Tran Cong The (25 years old, residing in Thanh An commune, Thanh Chuong district). There are 3 injured people, including 2 people in Thanh Chuong and 1 person in Tan Ky.

At the same time, the floods also caused 14,551 houses to be flooded, 4,447 households to be evacuated due to floods and landslides; 94 hamlets were flooded, 27 hamlets were isolated. 6 houses collapsed, 84 houses were partially damaged, 803 houses were affected by landslides; 18 schools were flooded, 12 classrooms were damaged, nearly 1,400m of school fence collapsed.

More than 885 hectares of rice, nearly 10,000 hectares of corn and various vegetables, and nearly 6,500 hectares of aquaculture areas were submerged in floodwaters; nearly 140,000 poultry and nearly 457 cattle were swept away by the flood.

In addition, the floods also caused more than 44km of canals to be eroded; washed away 23 temporary bridges and caused landslides along more than 51km of local roads, damaged 2 transformer stations and broke 92 electric poles. In addition, the floods also caused 55 locations on both national and provincial highways to be flooded and traffic jams, of which 37 locations were on national highways and 18 locations were on provincial roads.

It is known that at flooded locations, barriers and signs have been arranged, 24-hour security guards have been organized to close the road, prohibit people and vehicles from passing, coordinate with local authorities and functional forces to ensure security and order, organize traffic flow, and ensure traffic safety.

By the afternoon of November 1, there were still 3 flooded locations on National Highway. Of which, National Highway 48E includes Km61+800 (in Nghia Binh commune, Tan Ky district, is flooded 0.4m) and Km225+050 to Km225+300 (in Nghi Phuong commune, Nghi Loc district); National Highway 46C from Km107+200 to Km108+900 is flooded 0.5m deep.

In addition, the flood also caused landslides at 9 locations on National Highways and 9 locations on Provincial Roads. Of which, 1 location was on National Highway 15A, 6 locations on National Highway 16, and 1 location on National Highway 46. Currently, landslides on National Highways and Provincial Roads are being urgently repaired and handled to ensure smooth traffic.

According to the Nghe An Irrigation Department, there are currently 1,061 dams in the province, of which 939 are full (882 are managed by local authorities and 57 are managed by irrigation enterprises). The two large lakes, Vu Mau and Song Sao, are also full.
