(Baonghean.vn) - Disease outbreaks in farmed shrimp occurred in 17 communes in 5 districts, cities and towns of Nghe An, including: Quynh Luu, Nghi Loc, Dien Chau, Hoang Mai Town and Vinh City.

Over the past few days, many shrimp ponds of Quynh Luu farmers have shown signs of disease. The district veterinary agency has taken samples for testing to determine the cause.

According to a report from the Quynh Luu District Veterinary Station, the authorities have concluded that the shrimp sample of Mr. Bach Sy Nam's family in Quynh Luong Commune, taken on May 11, was positive for white spot disease.

Mr. Dau Dang Dinh - Head of the District Veterinary Station said: On May 14, there were signs of shrimp deaths in some shrimp ponds in Quynh Bang commune. The District Veterinary Station took shrimp samples from the ponds of the families: Hoang De, Nguyen Van Lam, Hoang Tho to test to determine the cause of shrimp deaths. At the same time, it instructed shrimp farmers to follow the correct pond treatment process to limit the spread of disease.

Mr. Dang Van Minh - Deputy Head of the Provincial Veterinary Department said: The total area of ​​shrimp disease is 62.75 hectares, of which the area with white spot disease is 48.61 hectares/25 ponds, acute hepatopancreatic necrosis syndrome is 1 hectare/2 ponds, due to the environment is 11.29 hectares/34 ponds. The remaining 5 ponds with a farming area of ​​1.85 hectares are awaiting test results.

To proactively prevent and control diseases in shrimp, the Provincial Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Medicine directed the grassroots veterinary stations to check the situation of dead shrimp in the ponds; take samples, test to determine the cause of the disease. The grassroots veterinary stations provide instructions on disease prevention measures, avoid spreading to other ponds in the area; provide chemicals to facilities (qualified), treat ponds...

Since April, the Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Medicine has provided 3,015 kg of Chlorine to treat more than 13 hectares of ponds infected with white spot disease and acute hepatopancreatic necrosis. Currently, there are no more chemicals to prevent aquatic diseases. The Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Medicine has consulted the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, the Provincial People's Committee to submit to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, and the Department of Animal Health to support 30 tons of Chlorine to continue to prevent and control diseases for shrimp.
