Nghe An strengthens management, improves quality and image of OCOP products
(Baonghean.vn) - On October 18, Nghe An Provincial People's Committee issued Document No. 8827/UBND-NN on strengthening management, direction and guidance on implementing the One Commune One Product (OCOP) program.
After more than 4 years of implementation"One Commune One Product" program(OCOP) in Nghe An has achieved many encouraging results. Up to now, the whole province has had 422 OCOP products rated 3 stars or higher, of which 380 products are rated 3 stars, 41 products are rated 4 stars, and 1 product is rated 5 stars.

However, in addition to the achieved results, the implementation of the Program still has shortcomings and limitations such as: By September 2023, only 5 districts had organized the assessment and classification of new products in the first phase of 2023, including: Nghi Loc, Dien Chau, Yen Thanh, Quynh Luu and Do Luong; 7 districts and cities organized the assessment and reclassification of products that had expired for 36 months, including: Yen Thanh, Quy Chau, Nam Dan, Dien Chau, Quynh Luu, Hoang Mai town and Vinh city; some products after being recognized as achieving 3-star OCOP but could not expand production and had difficulty accessing the market; the management of OCOP products after being recognized still had certain shortcomings and limitations...

Nghe An Market Management Department strengthens inspection, examination and strictly handles violations of entities with OCOP products (if any).

The People's Committees of districts, cities and towns, based on the assigned tasks in Decision No. 1117/QD-UBND dated April 24, 2023 of the Provincial People's Committee approving the Project "One Commune One Product (OCOP) of Nghe An province for the period 2023 - 2025", localities focus on directing the implementation of the OCOP Program plan to ensure compliance with the set plan objectives.
Urgently complete the re-evaluation of products that have been recognized for more than 36 months. In case the re-evaluation fails, or the subjects with expired products do not propose evaluation, the report must be sent to the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development for synthesis, reporting to the Provincial People's Committee and publicizing on the mass media.
Directing specialized departments to continue to guide and support entities to complete product development, in which priority is given to supporting entities that, after being recognized as OCOP with 3 stars or higher, have small production scale and are difficult to meet the market demand, to continue to improve production capacity to ensure quantity and quality to gradually meet market demand. At the same time, pay attention to planning raw material areas, selecting traditional, typical, indigenous products, etc. to develop OCOP products.
Strictly evaluate and recognize 3-star OCOP products, absolutely do not chase quantity, and do not recognize products that do not meet requirements.
Strengthen inspection and supervision of OCOP products that have been evaluated and recognized; resolutely recall or request competent authorities to recall and handle OCOP products that do not ensure quality and food safety compared to regulations.
Organize inspection and strict supervision of the use of OCOP logo, labels, packaging designs and resolutely handle and provide widespread information to consumers, distributors and market management agencies regarding OCOP entities that intentionally use them in violation of regulations.
Direct specialized departments to inspect and guide subjects to complete product registration dossiers to participate in assessment and classification in 2023 according to Decision No. 148QD/TTg of the Prime Minister.
Request relevant provincial departments, branches and sectors, People's Committees of districts, towns and cities to promptly and seriously organize implementation, periodically report quarterly on the results of implementing the OCOP Program to the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development for synthesis and reporting to the Provincial People's Committee./.
