Nghe An: Strengthening coordination in the work of collecting martyrs' remains

(Baonghean.vn) – On the afternoon of June 10, Steering Committee 1237 of Nghe An province held a conference to review the work of collecting martyrs' graves in the dry season of 2015-2016.

Attending the conference were Colonel Ha Tan Tien - Member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Commander of the Provincial Military Command; Comrade Le Ngoc Hoa - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, Head of the Provincial Steering Committee 1237; representatives of the leaders of Military Region 4, the Provincial Military Command and officers and professional soldiers of the collection team.

In the 2015-2016 dry season, Nghe An province was assigned the task of searching, excavating, and moving 80 graves of Vietnamese volunteer soldiers and experts who died in three provinces: Xieng Khouang, Vientiane, and Xay Xom Bun (Lao PDR).

In the process of carrying out its tasks, the Steering Committee 1237 of Nghe An province promptly had policies and measures to lead and direct closely, motivating cadres and professional soldiers to uphold their sense of responsibility, strive to overcome difficulties and hardships, do a good job in mass mobilization and foreign affairs, and gain the consensus and support of the Party Committee, government, armed forces and people of Lao ethnic groups.

Accordingly, through the process of surveying and searching, 65 martyrs' remains were recovered and brought back to the country, reaching 81.25% of the plan. The martyrs' remains were received and buried in their hometowns with care, respect and safety.

In addition to the task of searching for and collecting martyrs' remains, the Collection Team has devoted many working days to helping the people of Laos develop their socio-economy, stabilize their lives, and contribute to strengthening the special solidarity and friendship between Vietnam and Laos, and between Nghe An province and other neighboring provinces.

The Provincial Military Command awarded certificates of merit to collectives with outstanding achievements in the work of collecting martyrs' graves.

At the conference, delegates discussed the difficulties and limitations encountered in the process of carrying out the task such as: large terrain, long war time, language differences making surveying, analyzing, and processing information difficult... From there, they exchanged, drew experiences and determined key directions to better carry out the task in the coming time.

Speaking at the conference, comrade Le Ngoc Hoa - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee warmly praised the officers in the Provincial Steering Committee 1237 and the officers and soldiers of the gathering team for their efforts to overcome difficulties and successfully complete the assigned tasks.

Regarding the work of gathering martyrs' graves in the dry season of 2016 - 2017 and the following years, implementing the policies of the Party and the State, the Steering Committee 1237 of Nghe An province will continue to lead and direct resolutely and synchronously appropriate solutions; promote extensive propaganda; regularly consolidate and perfect the standing agency and specialized forces, to best meet the requirements of the assigned tasks. The gathering process needs to ensure absolute safety, regularly report and update the situation to the provincial leaders to have attention and promptly resolve proposals from practice.

On this occasion, the Provincial Military Command awarded certificates of merit to 5 groups and 19 individuals for their outstanding achievements in collecting martyrs' graves in the 2015-2016 dry season.
