(Baonghean.vn) - Strengthening the destruction of drug trafficking rings and preventing drug crimes is one of the key tasks for May proposed at the Internal Affairs Bloc meeting on the morning of April 22.

After reporting the situation, evaluating and discussing the work done in April, the conference agreed on a number of tasks to be performed in May.
Accordingly, continue to advise the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee and the Provincial People's Committee to lead and direct the work of ensuring national security and social order and safety. The authorities strengthen the work of monitoring the situation, ensuring security and order, complicated issues at the grassroots level and not allowing hot spots to occur.
Along with that, step up crime prevention and control, launch peak campaigns to crack down on all types of crimes, especially murder, intentional injury, robbery, snatching, human trafficking, and illegal credit; destroy drug rings, and strengthen management of cross-border smuggling.

In particular, for the Provincial Police, it is required to continue the plan to launch peak campaigns of propaganda and attacks on drug crimes associated with implementing the month of action to prevent and combat drugs in 2019.
At the conference, many opinions focused on discussing and proposing solutions to increase the effectiveness of preventing and combating crimes related to border routes, especially drug crimes.
Previously, at the conference, a report on the results of work at all levels, especially the work of ensuring security and order, showed that the authorities had discovered and arrested 163 cases, 200 drug criminals; seized 1.44 kg of heroin, 712 kg of crystal meth, 138g and 22,005 synthetic drug pills, 149g of marijuana and 200g of opium.
In particular, the provincial police have concentrated forces to raid and arrest a large drug trafficking and transportation ring, seizing 700 kg of crystal meth in Quynh Luu district.
In April, the Provincial Police received and resolved 433 reports of crime; processed and resolved 259 reports (223 criminal cases were prosecuted, 36 cases were not prosecuted, 1 report was temporarily suspended); 173 cases are being verified and resolved. 267 cases were investigated and prosecuted, 538 defendants were prosecuted; after completing the investigation, 284 cases and 438 defendants were transferred to the People's Procuracy at all levels for prosecution. 11 wanted subjects were arrested and persuaded to surrender.
The People's Courts at two provincial levels have tried a number of major, complicated cases that have attracted public attention, such as: the case of Va Nhia Ly, illegally trading in narcotics, sentenced to death; the case of Xong Ba Chia, illegally transporting narcotics, sentenced to 20 years in prison; the case of Le Thi Ha and her accomplices, trafficking in humans and children, sentenced defendant Ha to 15 years in prison, defendant Ly to 10 years in prison; the case of Dang Chi Quyet, defrauding and appropriating 1.4 billion VND from 12 victims, using fake seals or documents of organizations, sentenced defendants to 19 years in prison for both crimes...
