Nghe An releases rare 30 kg golden turtle back into the sea
(Baonghean.vn) - A rare sea turtle weighing 30 kg was released back into the sea this morning (February 19) by the Quynh Thuan Border Guard Station, Nghe An Border Guard, local authorities and related individuals.
Previously, at 9:30 p.m. on February 17, Mr. Hoang Van Thang, born in 1985, residing in Tho Tien hamlet, Quynh Tho commune, Quynh Luu district, received information that local people were selling a sea turtle weighing 30 kg for 8.5 million VND.

After checking and knowing that this was a rare and strictly protected turtle, Mr. Thang spent money to buy the sea turtle and reported it to the Quynh Thuan Border Guard Station and the local authorities of Son Hai commune, Quynh Thuan commune, Quynh Luu district.

After receiving the information, Quynh Thuan Border Guard Station coordinated with the family and local authorities to take care of the sea turtle to ensure its health. This morning, at exactly 9:00 a.m., Quynh Thuan Border Guard Station sent forces and vehicles to coordinate with the family and local authorities to release the turtle 5 nautical miles from shore.

It is known that Mr. Hoang Van Thang's family has spent their own money to buy sea turtles caught by fishermen three times, then reported to the Border Guard Station and local authorities to release them back into the sea.
