(Baonghean.vn)- According to Nghe An Statistics Office, among 11 main groups of goods and services, there is 1 group of goods with a price index increasing by 0.05% compared to the previous month (other goods and services group).

There were 7 groups of goods that decreased in price compared to the previous month, including: Food and catering services decreased by 0.77%; beverages and tobacco decreased by 0.35%; Clothing, hats, footwear decreased by 0.29%; Housing, electricity, water and construction materials decreased by 0.1%; Household equipment and appliances decreased by 0.1%; Transportation decreased by 0.28%; Culture, entertainment and tourism decreased by 0.14%.

There are 3 groups that did not increase or decrease compared to the previous month: Medicines and medical services; Post and telecommunications; and Education.

The reason for the decrease in CPI in March 2023 was due to the impact of gasoline prices and the decrease in people's travel demand after Tet, causing prices of food, beverages, tobacco; household goods and transportation to decrease.

In addition, gasoline and gas prices in the month were adjusted down according to the world market. On average, in March 2023, A95 gasoline price decreased by 36 VND/liter, E5 gasoline decreased by 139 VND/liter, diesel oil decreased by 1,828 VND/liter, kerosene decreased by 1,677 VND/liter, and gas price in the month decreased by 16,000 VND/cylinder.

March, the month after Tet, people's consumption demand tends to decrease; the influence of the world market affects the price of fuel, gasoline, and gas. Gasoline prices were adjusted 3 times in the month (March 1; March 13; March 21) and the tightening of handling of alcohol concentration violations according to Plan 32/KH-CAT dated February 3, 2023 of the Provincial Police are the main reasons for the consumer price index (CPI) in March 2023 to decrease by 0.36% compared to the previous month.

On average, in the first quarter of 2023, the consumer price index increased by 0.80% over the same period last year.

The price index increased in all groups of goods, specifically: Beverages and tobacco increased by 2.47%; Transportation increased by 2%; Other goods and services increased by 1.29%; Food and catering services increased by 0.71%; Housing, electricity, water, fuel and construction materials increased by 0.65%; Clothing, hats and footwear increased by 0.62%; Household equipment and utensils increased by 0.48%; Culture, entertainment and tourism increased by 0.25%; Education increased by 0.17%; Post and telecommunications increased by 0.17%; Medicines and medical services increased by 0.05%.

The average consumer price index in the first quarter of 2023 increased compared to the same period last year due to the following reasons: Gas and fuel prices increased sharply again due to the influence of the world market; demand for electricity in households increased; prices of input materials for steel production increased such as coal, iron ore, hot rolled coil, etc., which greatly affected the increase in steel prices.

The gold price index in March 2023 decreased by 0.55% compared to the previous month and by 2.44% compared to the same period last year. The average in the first quarter of 2023 increased by 0.19% compared to the same period last year. Domestic gold prices fluctuated in the same direction as world gold prices.

The US dollar index increased by 0.05% compared to the previous month and decreased by 3.02% compared to the same period last year. The average in the first quarter of 2023 decreased by 2.65% compared to the same period last year.
