Nghe An: Two death sentences carried out by lethal injection.

(Baonghean.vn) - In 2015, the two-level courts in Nghe An handled 8,499 cases of all types, including many key criminal cases. Two death row inmates were executed by lethal injection.

According to the 2015 work report of the People's Court of Nghe An province, out of nearly 8,500 cases received, there were 2,423 first-instance criminal cases involving 4,647 defendants. Of these, 813 were serious cases handled by the Provincial Court, and the remaining 7,668 were handled by district-level courts.

The murder case in Ban Phong, Tam Hop commune, Tuong Duong district was tried in a mobile court.

During the year, the people's courts at both levels tried many particularly serious cases, such as the case of Ngo Thanh Ly and 5 accomplices trafficking 31 blocks of narcotics (3 defendants received the death penalty, 3 defendants received life sentences); the case of Phan Dinh Tuan, Tran Quang Anh Dung, and Nguyen Huu Song trafficking 110 blocks of heroin; the case of Ho Su Co trafficking 60 blocks of heroin…

The two-level People's Courts held 33 mobile trials. Most notably, in the case of Vi Văn Hai, who murdered four people in Bản Phồng, Tam Hợp commune, Tương Dương district, the Provincial People's Court organized a mobile trial in Tương Dương district, sentencing him to death. They promptly provided full information about the case, contributing to the dissemination of legal knowledge and stabilizing the morale of the local population.

In 2015, authorities carried out criminal sentences against 3,639 convicted individuals. The Provincial Police and the Provincial People's Procuracy executed 2 prisoners by lethal injection; and granted sentence reductions to 2,768 prisoners with good rehabilitation records.

The People's Court of Nghe An province also conducted judicial assistance requests abroad in 39 cases, but only received results for 3 cases; the other 36 cases received no response and yielded no results…
