(Baonghean.vn) - Typhoon No. 4 and flash floods in Nghe An province caused damage exceeding 127 billion VND; of which flash floods caused nearly 30 billion VND in damage, and Typhoon No. 4 caused more than 97 billion VND in damage.

According to statistics from the People's Committee of Nghe An province, the flash flood that occurred on July 21st in Ky Son district caused severe damage, with 11 houses swept away, 18 houses damaged by landslides, 24 rice warehouses, 2 motorbikes, 6 motorboats, and 9 three-phase generators destroyed. The flood also inundated Ta Ca Primary School, completely washing away 5 classrooms, causing landslides at the Nhan Cu village kindergarten and primary school; and 14 buffaloes and cows were killed by the water.

Flash floods also caused landslides on many roads in Ky Son, swept away many bridges over streams, and affected the people's water supply system. The total damage caused by flash floods in Ky Son amounted to nearly 30 billion VND.

Nghe An also suffered heavy damage despite Typhoon No. 4 not making a direct landfall. Heavy rains caused flooding, landslides, and damage to many locations on National Highways 16, 48, 48D, and 48E; provincial roads 543C, 532m, 542C, and 543D; and several bridges such as Khe San (Thanh Son commune, Anh Son district) and Khen Than were deeply flooded and closed. Heavy rains also caused landslides and damage along a 2.3km stretch of the Thanh Tung (Thanh Chuong) – Nam Dan rescue road. The heavy rains also caused rapid flooding, eroding and collapsing the embankment and dike in Cam Thai, Thanh Chuong, and the right bank of the Hung Lam stream. In Dien Chau district, heavy rain and strong winds caused two rows of single-story houses, each with two rooms and an area of ​​120 square meters, to collapse and be completely destroyed.

The total damage caused by Typhoon No. 4 in Nghe An province is over 97 billion VND.

Immediately after receiving news of the flash flood, the Provincial People's Committee dispatched an inter-agency working group to coordinate with the Ky Son District People's Committee to inspect and assess the extent of the damage, guide the local authorities to proactively work with the commune People's Committees to stabilize the housing of households swept away by the flood; and guide the district and commune People's Committees to report and develop support plans to quickly stabilize the lives of people in the flood-affected areas.

The working group sent gifts to support families whose houses were swept away, with each household receiving 3 million VND and 50kg of rice; the Provincial Fatherland Front Committee and the Provincial Red Cross Society provided 8 million VND to each household whose house was swept away. The Ky Son District People's Committee mobilized vehicles and forces in the area to help people evacuate, transport property, and ensure the safety of people's lives; organized delegations to visit and provide timely relief with instant noodles and rice to households affected and isolated by flash floods; concentrated machinery and equipment to quickly excavate and fill landslides to reopen transportation routes for people; directed the District Police and the People's Committees of Ta Ca and Tay Son communes to deploy personnel to guard and prevent people and vehicles from passing through dangerous areas.

The Provincial People's Committee and all levels, sectors, and localities are continuing to direct the timely visits, encouragement, and assistance to families whose houses were swept away, helping them to quickly stabilize their living conditions; closely monitoring the developments of rain and floods, strengthening information and communication work, especially in remote areas, areas along rivers and streams, downstream of reservoirs and dams, and low-lying areas, to promptly inform local authorities and people so they can proactively take preventive measures...
