Nghe An: Highlights of January 12th

* On January 12th, in Hanoi, VietNamNet newspaper organized an event.Ceremony for receiving the First-Class Labor Medaland celebrating its 25th anniversary.

On December 19, 1997, the VietNet website appeared, marking the birth of the VietNamNet online newspaper. On June 17, 2008, the Prime Minister signed Decision No. 755/QD-TTg transferring the VietNamNet newspaper to the Ministry of Information and Communications. On May 30, 2018, the Minister of Information and Communications signed Decision No. 820/QD-TTTT on the merger of the VietNamNet online newspaper and the Vietnam Post Newspaper into the current VietNamNet newspaper. From an online news site, VietNamNet has continuously developed, elevating itself to become a brand with significant socio-political standing and widespread influence.

Speaking at the ceremony to receive the First-Class Labor Medal and celebrate its 25th anniversary, Comrade Nguyen Manh Hung - Member of the Central Committee of the Party, Minister of Information and Communications - suggested: "VietNamNet is a newspaper, the mouthpiece of the Ministry of Information and Communications. The field of information and communication technology must be the number one strength of VietNamNet, and that is also the newspaper's mission."

* On the morning of January 12th,The Provincial People's Committee held a meeting with the Vietnam Electricity Group.Regarding the electricity supply situation and resolving obstacles in the implementation of 500kV transmission line projects passing through the province.

On December 1, 2023, the Prime Minister approved the investment plan for two projects: the 500kV Quang Trach - Quynh Luu transmission line and the 500kV Quynh Luu - Thanh Hoa transmission line. The transmission lines for these two projects span nearly 100km across the province, with 201 tower foundation locations. Following the Prime Minister's directive, these two projects are scheduled to be energized and put into operation in June 2024.

These two projects are included in the list of key projects of special importance, aimed at ensuring electricity supply to the northern provinces, while also contributing to reducing the load on the existing 500kV North-South transmission lines 1 and 2.

At the meeting, General Director of Vietnam Electricity Group Nguyen Anh Tuan emphasized that these are important projects and therefore hoped that the People's Committee of Nghe An province would continue to direct relevant departments, agencies, and localities to actively support and cooperate with the investor in resolving related issues.

Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Duc Trung affirmed the viewpoint that the implementation of these projects is for the common good, first and foremost the national interest, for the development of the country, including the interests and responsibilities of Vietnam Electricity Group and the interests of the localities. Therefore, Nghe An province and the Group both have the responsibility and obligation to implement the projects with the highest efficiency.

In the past period, the electricity supply to Nghe An province has been basically ensured by the Group and its member units. Nghe An is one of the localities with high and rapidly increasing electricity demand, and the demand will continue to increase in the future. Therefore, we hope the Group will continue to pay attention to, support, and cooperate with the province.

Accordingly, on the morning of January 13th, in Vinh City, the People's Committee of Nghe An province will hold a conference to announce the Nghe An Provincial Planning for the period 2021-2030, with a vision to 2050; and the Decision approving the overall adjustment of the General Planning for the construction of the Southeast Nghe An Economic Zone, Nghe An province, until 2040.

The conference was attended by leaders of the Government, central ministries and agencies, and provinces and cities in the North Central and Central Coastal regions.

At the conference, government leaders will present the Decision approving the Nghe An Provincial Planning for the period 2021-2030, with a vision to 2050; and leaders of the Ministry of Construction will present the Decision approving the overall adjustment of the General Planning for the construction of the Southeast Nghe An Economic Zone until 2040.

*Nghe An will distribute over 97,000 gift packages.in the "Tet for the Poor - Spring of the Year of the Dragon 2024" program.

According to the plan, the "Tet for the Poor - Spring of the Year of the Dragon 2024" program will distribute 97,304 gift packages, including 45,333 for poor households and 50,063 for near-poor households. On average, each gift package is worth 500,000 VND or more for poor households; 1,000,000 VND or more for poor households with particularly difficult circumstances; and for other recipients, the value depends on the generosity of the sponsors.
