(Baonghean.vn) - The Chairman of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front extended Christmas greetings at the Bishop's Office of the Vinh Diocese; the Standing Committee of the Provincial People's Council exchanged operational experiences with the Standing Committees of the District People's Councils; and over 100 cases of alcohol and drug-related violations were detected... These are some of the notable events on December 17th.

*On the morning of December 17th, Comrade Do Van Chien, Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam and Chairman of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, visited...Visit and wish a Merry Christmas.2022 at the Bishop's Residence of the Vinh Diocese.

Accompanying them were leaders from the Government's Religious Affairs Committee and several central agencies. Representing Nghe An province were Comrade Nguyen Van Thong - Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee; members of the Provincial Party Standing Committee: Vo Thi Minh Sinh - Chairperson of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Nghe An province; Le Hong Vinh - Standing Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; and leaders from several provincial departments and agencies.

The delegation was received by Bishop Alphonsus Nguyen Huu Long - Bishop of the Vinh Diocese; Bishop Peter Nguyen Van Vien - Auxiliary Bishop of the Vinh Diocese; and priests and religious.

In a very warm and friendly atmosphere, in preparation for Christmas 2022 and New Year 2023, on behalf of the leaders of the Party, State, and Vietnam Fatherland Front, Comrade Do Van Chien respectfully sends to Bishop Alphonsus Nguyen Huu Long - Bishop of Vinh Diocese; Bishop Peter Nguyen Van Vien - Auxiliary Bishop of Vinh Diocese; and all priests, religious, and Catholic people of Vinh Diocese wishes for a warm and peaceful Christmas, a New Year filled with good health, joy, and many new achievements.

*On the morning of December 17th,The Standing Committee of the Provincial People's Council organized a conference to exchange experiences with the Standing Committees of the District People's Councils.Cluster 1 (second time) includes: Vinh City, Cua Lo town and the districts of Nghi Loc, Hung Nguyen, Nam Dan, Thanh Chuong, Do Luong, Anh Son, Con Cuong, Tuong Duong, and Ky Son.

Based on the innovations and improvements of the Provincial People's Council, at the conference, the Standing Committee of the District People's Councils affirmed that, from the activities, experiences, and methods of the Provincial People's Council, localities have learned and applied them, thereby innovating, being flexible, and improving the quality of the People's Council's activities and the quality of its representatives. This has helped to better fulfill the functions of deciding on important local issues; ensuring the implementation of regulations and decisions of higher-level state agencies at the local level; supervising the enforcement of laws at the local level, and supervising the activities of state agencies at the same and lower levels.

Speaking at the conference, and providing information on the province's socio-economic situation in 2022 with many outstanding results, such as budget revenue, investment attraction, and new rural construction, Comrade Nguyen Nam Dinh - Member of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee, Permanent Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Council - emphasized: 2023 is the third year of implementing the Resolution of the 19th Provincial Party Congress, the Resolution of the 13th National Party Congress, and the 5-year socio-economic development plan for the period 2021-2025. This is also the year to summarize Resolution 26 of the Politburo on Nghe An; and to implement district-level regional plans, district plans, land use plans, construction plans, and zoning plans... after the provincial plan for the period 2021-2030 is approved by the Government...

*On the morning of December 17th, in Hoang Mai town, Nghe An Provincial Youth Union, in coordination with the Central Business Sector Youth Union, organized an event.Activities in response to "Youth Action Day""Welcome to the successful conclusion of the 12th National Congress of the Vietnam Youth Union, term 2022-2027."

Immediately after the launching ceremony, 100% of the Youth Union branches throughout the province simultaneously launched youth projects and activities, including: organizing the inauguration of the "Bridge of Solidarity" and handing over charitable houses; assisting people in the process of obtaining identification codes, citizen identity cards, and passports; donating welfare bags to those in difficult circumstances; visiting and giving gifts to parishes during Christmas; providing medical examinations and dispensing medicine; running to raise funds in response to the "Million Green Trees - For a Green Vietnam" program; donating national flags to young people and fishermen who go out to sea; donating a youth volleyball court; and organizing the "Forum on Aspiration for Contribution - The Meaning of Life for Youth".

*High School Students' National Defense and Security Education Sports FestivalThe 3rd National Sports Games in 2022, hosted by Can Tho City, took place from December 12th to 17th. The games were attended by 54 delegations, including 53 from the Departments of Education and Training and one from a high school.

The sports competition attracted 633 high school students participating in 9 events, including: General knowledge about national defense and security; squad formation; individual formation; disassembling and assembling AK submachine guns; grenade throwing for distance and accuracy; AK submachine gun shooting; battlefield movement postures; 800m armed run; and first aid and casualty evacuation.

Participating in this year's sports competition, the Nghe An province delegation consisted of 12 members, all students from the Provincial Ethnic Boarding High School. After 8 competitions, the Nghe An student delegation ranked second overall.

*After nearly two months of intensive repair efforts, the only road connecting Muong Xen town to Tay Son commune (Ky Son district), which was severely damaged by flash floods, is now temporarily open to traffic.

*With the goal of reducing traffic accidents, the Road Traffic Police Team No. 1 - Traffic Police Department (Nghe An Provincial Police) has consistently maintained its efforts over the past period.Check for alcohol and drug levels.For drivers, this allows for the timely detection of many violations.

Since November 15, 2022 alone, the team has detected and handled 105 cases of drunk driving and 6 cases of drug use. This included hit-and-run accidents, where the officers quickly tracked down and determined the presence of drugs and alcohol in the drivers' systems.
