Nghe An: Seized more than 14 cubic meters of ownerless wood hidden under a dam
(Baonghean.vn)- Department PC49 (Nghe An Police) has just inspected, verified and recovered about 14m3 of ownerless wood hidden at Dinh Dam, Thanh Huong Commune, Thanh Chuong.
Receiving information from the people about some sawn timber and round timber gathered in Thanh Huong commune, Thanh Chuong district, on the afternoon of May 9, PC49 (Nghe An Police) inspected, verified and recovered about 14 cubic meters of ownerless timber belonging to groups II to VI.

At the scene, the timber gathering area is located along the eastern edge of the Dinh dam, about 150m long, in hamlet 11, Thanh Huong commune. The dam is located far from the residential area, with an area of about 5 hectares.
All the wood was placed in the dam bed, some of the logs floated close to the edge of the dam and were hidden under the bushes. Upon inspection, there were no signs of the forest rangers hammering the wood, and the owner was not identified.

After discovering the illegal timber, the police coordinated with local authorities to call on whoever owned the timber to come forward. However, after more than 4 hours, the owner of the timber still has not arrived.
To have a basis to handle the case in accordance with the law, the working group proceeded to bring the above amount of wood to the Investigation Police Agency of Nghe An Provincial Police for verification and clarification.
