At the press conference, representatives of the Department of Planning and Investment reported on the socio-economic results of the first quarter and tasks of the second quarter of 2019.

Speaking at the conference, Chairman of the Provincial Journalists Association Tran Duy Ngoan affirmed: The press accompanies the province, actively promoting the province's events and activities, especially major events such as the Spring Investment Promotion Conference of Ky Hoi 2019. Citing the report on the province's socio-economic situation, which said that in the first quarter of 2019, the total number of projects granted and confirmed for investment certificates was large, the Chairman of the Provincial Journalists Association expressed concerns about the actual implementation of projects granted investment certificates compared to the commitment.

"Public opinion is concerned that the province's investment attraction work needs to focus on key points, avoiding the situation of massive investment projects but slow implementation, even many projects being "shelved" for decades, affecting the investment environment" - Mr. Ngoan said.

Revoking 151 projects behind schedule

Clarifying the content of the journalist's concern, Deputy Director of the Department of Planning and Investment Nguyen Xuan Duc said: The Provincial People's Committee issued Decision No. 776 dated March 15, 2019 on assigning tasks to direct and monitor, and urge the implementation of projects that have been granted investment policies and Minutes signed at the Spring Meeting with Investors 2019.

Regarding the progress of investment projects, Deputy Director of the Department of Planning and Investment Nguyen Xuan Duc informed: Every year, the province reviews and establishes interdisciplinary teams to inspect slow-progressing projects in the area.

From 2012 to 2018, the Provincial People's Committee established 8 interdisciplinary inspection teams to inspect 500 projects (of 421 projects, accounting for 35.5% of the total number of projects in the province).

In 2018 alone, the Provincial People's Committee established two inspection teams for 106 projects (89 projects outside the economic zones and industrial parks, 17 projects in the economic zones and industrial parks). After inspection, the province decided to revoke 151 projects with an area of ​​36,000 hectares of land.

“For projects with capable investors, the province will continue to extend the extension. For any investors who do not fulfill their commitment to extend the extension, the province will resolutely revoke them,” said Mr. Duc.

Concluding the press conference, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Le Minh Thong acknowledged and highly appreciated the press agencies for actively reflecting information and diversifying many socio-economic issues of the province.

Some outstanding socio-economic results in the first quarter of 2019: The growth rate of products in the province (GRDP) in the first quarter of 2019 is estimated to increase by 7.0%; budget revenue reached 3,517 billion VND, reaching 21.1% of the estimate, up 20.1% over the same period.

In the first quarter of 2019, new business registration certificates were issued to 445 enterprises, equal to 95.5% compared to the same period; total registered capital was 4,025.88 billion VND, up 31.98% compared to the same period. There were 244 enterprises returning to operation. The rate of online business registration applications in the first quarter of 2019 reached 100%.
