(Baonghean.vn) - On the afternoon of February 22, the Government held an online conference to review the work in 2022 and deploy tasks in 2023 of the National Civil Aviation Security Committee.

The conference was chaired by Deputy Prime Minister Tran Luu Quang - Chairman of the Aviation Security Committee. Also attending were representatives of ministries, branches, aviation enterprises and provinces with airports.

Attending the conference at Nghe An bridge point were comrade Bui Thanh An - Member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; representatives of leaders of relevant departments, branches and units.

Aviation security violations are prevented and handled promptly.

In 2022, the domestic Vietnamese aviation market had a spectacular breakthrough in output, proving the correct direction of the Party and Government in the past time with synchronous and drastic measures to promptly remove difficulties and obstacles to develop the aviation industry to ensure stable, sustainable, effective, secure and safe growth; ensure an equal business environment, promote healthy competition. According to analysis by Airbus in collaboration with IATA based on flight statistics from Flightrada 24 and Airbus Estimate, the domestic Vietnamese aviation market is assessed to be the fastest recovering in the world, with a growth rate of 123% compared to the same period in 2019.

In 2022, the air transport market will reach 55 million passengers (3.6 times higher than in 2021 and 69.6% higher than in 2019); estimated at 1.22 million tons of cargo (94% higher than in 2021 and equivalent to 2019), of which: Domestic transport will reach 43.2 million passengers (1.8 times higher than in 2021 and 15.6% higher than in 2019), 141 thousand tons of cargo (down 7% in 2021 and 55% higher than in 2019). International transport will reach 12.1 million passengers (22 times higher than in 2021 and 29% higher than in 2019); 1.08 million tons of goods (down 6.6% in 2021 and up 8% compared to 2019).

Regarding aviation security, it is well implemented, aviation security violations are prevented and handled promptly to avoid serious damage. Incidents that threaten aviation security are investigated by competent authorities to clarify the cause in order to propose remedial and preventive measures; attention is paid to monitoring and remedial work after incidents occur.

According to statistics, in 2022, there were 680 cases of civil aviation security violations (an increase of 445 cases compared to 2021). Of which, the number of cases of passengers being denied entry increased sharply (340 cases in 2022 compared to 2 cases in 2021); The number of theft cases increased by 73 cases; the number of cases of disturbing public order and carrying dangerous items increased slightly; There were 2 cases of terrorist threats.

In 2022, civil aviation activities inVinh International AirportThe airport has basically returned to normal, with an average of about 30 aircraft taking off and landing each day, serving over 4,000 passengers; in addition, the Port regularly welcomes special flights serving Party and State leaders and international guests visiting and working in Nghe An and neighboring provinces.

Accordingly, the work of ensuring aviation safety and security continued to be carried out effectively; there were no terrorist activities, illegal interference, or complicated incidents that negatively affected the operations of the airport, especially the security and safety of flights. Civil aviation activities took place normally and stably; flight announcements and forecasts were maintained and strictly managed; epidemic prevention and control work was carried out seriously.

In 2022, at Vinh International Airport, the functional forces of Nghe An province coordinated with the airport's aviation security to detect and handle 1 case of passengers carrying weapons and support tools in violation of regulations; 20 cases of escorting violators by air; and 1 other violation.

Synchronously implement measures to ensure security and safety

At the conference, ministries, branches, localities and units made a more thorough assessment of the issue of ensuring civil aviation security in recent times; at the same time, pointed out the limitations, causes and proposed solutions to overcome and respond to possible incidents to effectively implement the work of ensuring civil aviation security in 2023.

Concluding the conference, Deputy Prime Minister Tran Luu Quang - Chairman of the Aviation Security Committee highly appreciated the work of ensuring aviation security in the past year, and emphasized that the work of ensuring absolute aviation security and safety is a top political task, relevant ministries, branches and localities must always strive to improve the efficiency of security and safety management and supervision, maintain the system of standards and quality to meet the requirements of resources for the national aviation security and safety monitoring system and the standards of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO).

Accordingly, the Deputy Prime Minister requested ministries, branches and localities to continue to seriously carry out their tasks according to the 2023 Work Plan of the Aviation Security Committee; synchronously implement measures to ensure security, safety, prevent terrorism, sabotage and fire and explosion at agencies, organizations and aviation facilities; step up propaganda to raise people's awareness in ensuring aviation security and building an aviation security culture. Strengthen formal training on control, management and operation of aviation security control forces, aviation security supervision; develop response plans for unmanned aircraft and ultralight aircraft that illegally interfere with civil aviation activities.

Along with that, continue to update the system of legal documents of Vietnam to comply with ICAO Standards and Practice Recommendations and to be suitable for the practical operations of Vietnam's civil aviation. Strengthen coordination between state management agencies, local authorities, police units, military units and aviation service providers in ensuring aviation security and safety; political security and social order and safety at airports, etc.
