In his opening speech, Deputy Secretary of Nghe An Provincial Youth Union Thai Minh Sy stated that the complicated developments of the Covid-19 pandemic have caused many young people from other provinces, cities and overseas workers to return to their localities. In addition, the number of young people going abroad to work has decreased due to flight delays due to the pandemic. This has affected the labor situation, leading to the current unemployment situation in the province. In addition, there are risks that young people are prone to falling into social evils, encountering reproductive health problems such as unwanted pregnancies, or falling into depression, anxiety, and lack of future orientation.
The Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Youth Union affirmed that the forum is a meaningful activity, aiming to strengthen the role of the Youth Union in supporting local youth to access information on employment, education, health services, etc. in the context of natural disasters and epidemics. At the same time, this is also a place to mobilize youth participation in initiatives to support community development, focusing on issues of mental health care, life skills, reproductive health/sexual health care, prevention of gender-based violence, job transition skills, and loans for young people to work abroad.
Nghe An Provincial Youth Union has coordinated with the United Nations Population Fund and the Central Youth Center to organize many practical activities: supporting loan disbursement for 11 initiatives of overseas laborers affected by the Covid-19 pandemic; organizing training courses for counselors and communicators on mental health care, life skills, reproductive health/sexual health care, and prevention of gender-based violence; organizing training courses on skills to participate in responding to natural disasters in the context of the Covid-19 pandemic for young people...
