Nghe An organizes response to World Autism Awareness Day
(Baonghean.vn) - On the morning of March 30, Nghe An Province Children's Fund organized a program to respond to World Autism Awareness Day (April 2) with the theme "Understanding and spreading love".
This is an activity within the framework of the project "Promoting the implementation of children's rights, ensuring children's access to support resources, health care and education services for children with autism spectrum disorder in Nghe An province" funded by the European Union.
Participating in the program were representatives of the Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs, the Provincial Children's Fund and more than 200 people including: Teachers, children with autism spectrum disorder studying and intervening at the Nghe An Provincial Children's Fund and specialized centers in the province.

Speaking at the program, a representative of the Nghe An Province Children's Fund said: April 2nd of every year is chosen by the United Nations as World Autism Awareness Day, with the aim of calling on the community to increase interest and understanding of this syndrome.
Autism is a lifelong developmental disability that is detected within the first 3 years of life. Autism is a neurological disorder that affects brain function and can occur in any individual regardless of gender, race, wealth or social status. Autism is manifested by deficits in social interaction; difficulties in verbal/non-verbal communication; and narrow, repetitive behaviors and interests.
Responding to World Autism Awareness Day is an opportunity to increase awareness and understanding of autism spectrum disorders to support improving the quality of life for people with autism and families of autistic children, reducing difficulties in integrating into the surrounding community.

At the same time, through this program, it aims to connect centers, specialized educational facilities, teachers and families in intervention and therapy for children with autism spectrum disorder and spread the community's love for children with this syndrome.

At the program, sponsors presented gifts to the Nghe An Children's Fund to support the treatment and care of autistic children. Leaders of the Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs presented souvenir flags to specialized centers participating in the program.

Autistic children also participated in art performances and physical games. The Organizing Committee has arranged a “Love Corner”. There, there are displays of paintings and products made by children; documents and reference books to support parents. In particular, the Organizing Committee has prepared cards for delegates, parents, teachers to send love, express feelings, wishes and desires to the community about autistic people in particular and people with disabilities in general.
