Nghe An organizes a discussion on International Day of Happiness

On the morning of March 14, the Department of Culture and Sports held a seminar to celebrate the 10th anniversary ofInternational Day of Happiness(March 20, 2013 - March 20, 2023).

Since June 2012, the United Nations has declared March 20 as the International Day of Happiness. To date, 193/193 member countries, including Vietnam, have pledged to support, act, be more active and make more efforts to build a world of solidarity, improve the quality of life, build a fair and sustainable society, and bring happiness to humanity.

At the meeting to launch the International Day of Happiness, the then UN Secretary General, Mr. Ban Ki Moon, said: “We need a new economic model that recognizes the importance of three minimum factors necessary for sustainable development. Those three factors include: Society - Economy - Environment. If we can do all three of these things, we will have a happy world.”

Speaking at the seminar, Director of the Department of Culture and Sports Tran Thi My Hanh reiterated the meaning of International Day of Happiness: The United Nations chose March 20 as International Day of Happiness because this is a special day of the year, when the sun is horizontal to the equator, so on this day the length of day and night is equal - symbolizing the balance and harmony of the universe.

This is also a symbol of balance between yin and yang, between light and darkness, between dreams and reality... Choosing March 20 as International Day of Happiness also conveys the message: balance and harmony are one of the keys to happiness.

To celebrate International Day of Happiness, 2023, the Department of Culture and Information organized a discussion with the theme“Happiness for all”to spread the practical meaning of International Day of Happiness.

Thereby, we join hands, unite, be responsible, creative, and determined to successfully carry out the task of socio-economic development, promote poverty reduction, with special attention to policy subjects and vulnerable people.
