Nghe An honors 60 outstanding farmers' association leaders

On the morning of October 9, on the occasion of the 94th anniversary of the founding of the Vietnam Farmers' Union, the Nghe An Provincial Farmers' Union held a conference to meet and commend outstanding farmers' union leaders for the 2022-2024 period.

Attending were comrade Ngoc Kim Nam - Member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Head of the Mass Mobilization Committee, and leaders of relevant departments and branches.

The conference was chaired by comrades: Nguyen Quang Tung - Member of the Central Executive Committee of the Vietnam Farmers' Union, Member of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial Farmers' Union; comrade Nguyen Hong Son, Permanent Vice Chairman of the Provincial Farmers' Union.

In recent times, the work of the Farmers' Association and the Farmers' Movement in Nghe An province has achieved many positive results. The quality of grassroots association organizations and members has been improved; The role of the Farmers' Association and the Farmers' Movement in agricultural development and new rural construction has been affirmed; New movements implemented by the Association have created good impressions, contributing to the successful implementation of the province's economic and social goals.

The results were formed and vividly reflected in each facility and each branch. Accordingly, the branches in the whole province coordinated to organize tens of thousands of training courses to equip scientific and technical knowledge for farmer members; provided tens of thousands of tons of materials and fertilizers to farmers in the form of deferred payment. The branches are also the places that directly propagate, organize the evaluation of loan subjects, inspect and supervise members and farmers in using loans from policy banks and the Farmers Support Fund.

In particular, in the new rural construction program, the branches have regularly propagated and mobilized farmers to actively donate land, working days, and money to build rural infrastructure; organized for farmer members to repair roads, irrigation works, and environmental protection activities, such as building "Farmers' trees in gratitude to Uncle Ho", "new rural standard gardens"; cultural and sports activities, etc.

In addition, the activities of supporting each other to eliminate hunger and reduce poverty are effectively implemented by the branches, thereby beautifying the village and neighborhood relationships, building a united environment among farmers and rural areas.

Speaking at the conference, comrade Nguyen Quang Tung - Chairman of the Provincial Farmers' Association emphasized: "The achievements of the branches are the decisive factor for the overall achievements of the Provincial Farmers' Association in the recent period. And to have the above results, to have the consensus and response of farmer members, the role of the branch staff, especially the branch presidents, is extremely important, a key factor.

The branch presidents are the leaders of the farmers’ movement at the grassroots level. Among them are 60 outstanding branch presidents honored today. The branch presidents have always upheld the spirit of responsibility, set an example, made efforts, and devoted themselves to their work and the farmers’ movement. They are the extended arms of the Association, an important bridge between the Association and the farmers.

At the meeting, the typical representatives also presented their experiences in propaganda work, mobilizing members and farmers to actively respond to the emulation movement of good production and business, effectively implementing the movement and work of the Association in the locality; Mobilizing members and farmers to actively build new rural areas, advanced new rural areas, model new rural areas; mobilizing support for members to develop OCOP...

At the conference, 60 farmers' association branch heads were awarded Certificates of Merit for their outstanding achievements and positive contributions to the movement and association work in the 2022-2024 period.

Nghe An Farmers' Association has 21/21 district-level units, 447 bases, 3,640 branches, and 497,802 farmer members. The average rate of members participating in branch activities in the whole province is 75%; most branches have operating funds; the rate of branches classified as completing their tasks well or better is 97%. The branches organize many activities to propagate and disseminate the Party's policies, the State's policies and laws, especially policies on agricultural and rural development, and the new rural construction program.
