(Baonghean.vn) - Only about two kilometers from Hoang Mai Town, nearly 800 students of Quynh Vinh A and Quynh Vinh B Kindergarten are still having to study in a "freeloading" situation. This is also the only school in Hoang Mai Town and a few schools in Nghe An Province that have not completed universalization for 5-year-old preschool children.
The school of Quynh Vinh A Kindergarten is located right in the middle of a residential area. This was the old house of Dai Vinh cooperative built in the 60s; part of the current school used to be a place to store pesticides. The remaining classrooms are seriously degraded. Most of the students are living in cramped and dangerous conditions. |
According to regulations, an average student must be at least 1 - 1.5m tall.2/child. However, here a classroom is only about 20m2 but has 35 - 40 children studying. |
The classrooms are separated by a temporary partition, so students can easily go back and forth between the two classes. |
With no place to store things, teachers have to make use of the cramped, damp storage room to store blankets and mosquito nets for the children. In winter, this is a place where mosquitoes, cockroaches and other dangerous insects "accumulate". |
The roof was badly damaged. Each classroom had a ceiling fan installed in unsafe conditions. |
Five-year-olds are given priority in larger classrooms to move towards universal education for five-year-olds. However, the classroom is shared with the school's conference room. For nearly 20 years, many generations of students have had to study in this "makeshift" situation. |
Quynh Vinh B Kindergarten is also having to borrow the Hall of Vinh Hoa Cooperative. The school currently has 12 classes but is divided into 7 separate schools. The classes are mainly concentrated in the cultural houses of the hamlet. |
The facilities have deteriorated and become damaged after many years of not being repaired. |
The children's dining room is located in the well yard. Next to it is the water tank and the kitchen, which pose many potential food safety risks. |
A classroom at a separate location at the cultural house of hamlet 3. This is a class 3 without: no toilet, no playground, no teaching aids. |
Lacking a place to play, the children came up with many dangerous games such as climbing fences. |
Mobile toilets. Here, each class has an average of only 1.1 teachers/class, so it is difficult for teachers to take on all the teaching and care of the children. |
Study corner becomes a place to store old things of the cultural house |
The dream of a spacious, clean school seems far away for students and teachers of Quynh Vinh. |
