According to Dr. Ho Thi Huyen Trang - Reproductive Support Unit - Nghe An General Hospital, in fact, infertility treatment has been performed by the hospital for a long time but has only stopped at injecting sperm into the uterus. Currently, the unit has been able to perform the most modern techniques of in vitro fertilization, which is injecting sperm into the egg cytoplasm...
Currently, 25 couples have registered to perform the procedure at the unit, all of whom are from the Central region. Of these, 5 have performed the first steps, and the remaining cases will gradually perform the procedure.
According to Dr. Trang, in order to improve the techniques in infertility treatment for infertile couples, 2 years ago, the Provincial General Hospital sent medical teams to study IVF techniques at Tu Du Hospital, Hy Vong Hospital (Ho Chi Minh City) and the Central Obstetrics Hospital (Hanoi). At the same time, the hospital invested in purchasing equipment worth nearly 30 billion VND.

Infertile couples coming here will go through the following steps: Clinical examination, ovulation stimulation injection for the wife, after 14 - 15 days, ovulation injection, egg retrieval, sperm collection and washing, sperm injection into the egg cytoplasm, egg transfer to the lab for incubation, embryo creation, embryo culture and finally fresh embryo transfer into the uterus...
In cases where the endometrium is not suitable for pregnancy, the embryo will be frozen and transferred to the next appropriate cycle. In cases where the husband or wife has no sperm or reduced ovarian reserve quality, doctors will advise couples to request sperm and eggs for the procedure.
In these first treatments, the Provincial General Hospital will receive support from experts from the National Reproductive Center and the Central Maternity Hospital. The support will end when the hospital's doctors have fully mastered the technology and techniques.
Doctor Ho Thi Huyen Trang said: In Vietnam, besides some hospitals in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, only Hue Central Obstetrics Hospital and Thanh Hoa Obstetrics Hospital have successfully performed in vitro fertilization.
The probability of success in one IVF procedure is 40%; the probability of success in IVF for infertile couples is 48%. The probability of success depends on many factors, including the mother's hormones. It is known that the cost of each IVF procedure in Nghe An currently ranges from 50 to 70 million VND. Of which, the cost of ovulation stimulation drugs ranges from 30 to 50 million VND (depending on the number of ovulation stimulations) and the technical cost is 20 million VND.
