This morning, October 9, Nghe An Newspaper reporters worked with Cua Lo Town Police and Nghi Huong Ward People's Committee to verify information about the theft of pigs destroyed due to African swine fever for consumption in Nghi Huong Ward, which had previously spread on social networks.
Mr. Dau Khac Trung - Vice Chairman of Nghi Huong Ward People's Committee said: In recent days, information has been posted on social networks that in the ward there is a situation of stealing pigs that have been destroyed due to African swine fever for consumption. The local government has reported to Cua Lo Town People's Committee and at the same time directed specialized agencies to verify and clarify the information.

Captain Tran Van Giap - Deputy Head of the People's Security Team - Cua Lo Town Police confirmed: Immediately after receiving the above information, the Town Police assigned the People's Security Team to investigate and clarify the incident.
On October 8, the security agency of Cua Lo town police identified the information as coming from the Facebook account Phan Beo. The owner of the account is Hoang Thi P., residing in Hieu Hap block, Nghi Thu ward, Cua Lo town.
Through the investigation, the Facebook account owner admitted that the information about stealing pigs to be destroyed due to African swine fever infection at Cua Lo town cemetery was not true, but that the subject only heard the traders talking about it at the market.

Currently, Cua Lo town police are consolidating records to handle the subject according to the provisions of law.
Previously, on October 7, information spread on social networks about the phenomenon of pigs infected with African swine fever being buried and taken to be consumed in Nghi Huong ward (Cua Lo town), affecting the psychology of farmers and consumers.

As of October 9, in Cua Lo town, there were 4 wards with African swine fever outbreaks: Nghi Huong, Nghi Hoa, Nghi Thu, Nghi Hai. The number of pigs destroyed was 109, with a total weight of 6.4 tons.
