Nghe An currently has 191,771 hectares of planted forests, of which acacia trees account for 83%. Developing raw material forests has contributed to improving people's lives. Export turnover from wood processing in 2015 reached 87.3 million USD, accounting for 30% of export turnover.

However, the current situation is that most forest owners choose the small timber forest model instead of large timber forest. The reason is that most forest growers have low income, do not have enough financial conditions to follow the long exploitation cycle, for large timber. In order to improve the efficiency of timber plantations in the direction of large timber, supplying factories and craft villages.

The province has established a plan for large timber production and business areas in the province until 2015-2025 and a vision to 2030. Based on the existing forest land fund, according to the plan, 139,821 hectares of large timber production forests will be planted.

After listening to comments from representatives of departments and branches, concluding the meeting, Comrade Hoang Viet Duong, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, suggested that the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development should rearrange the content of the draft planning, clearly report the current situation of raw material forests, raw material tree varieties, and the situation of forestry land management to complete the draft planning report to submit to the Provincial People's Committee in the next meeting.
