Nghe An: Propaganda and dissemination to improve trade defense capacity
(Baonghean.vn) - Vietnamese enterprises need to proactively improve trade defense in the context of participating in Free Trade Agreements (FTAs) to ensure domestic production.
On October 7, the Department of Trade Defense, Ministry of Industry and Trade, in coordination with Nghe An province, organized a conference to disseminate and popularize trade defense to the business community in the context of Vietnam's participation in new-generation trade agreements.

Speaking at the opening of the conference,Deputy DirectorDirector of the Department of Industry and Trade Cao Minh Tu said that Vietnam is participating more and more deeply in free trade agreements, especially new generation FTAs, trade defense cases including anti-dumping, anti-subsidy, and self-defense against Vietnam's exports will increase in number with increasing complexity.
Meanwhile, some domestic manufacturing industries are also under pressure from increased imports due to the impacts of market opening and need trade defense policy tools to protect the interests of the industry. Therefore, enterprises need to proactively improve trade defense in the context of participating in free trade agreements to ensure the domestic manufacturing industry.

At the conference, delegates were informed about an overview of trade defense laws in the world and Vietnam; Regulations on trade defense in some free trade agreements; Practice and impact of trade defense measures in recent times; Overview of the situation of foreign-initiated trade defense investigations on Vietnam's import and export goods and some notes for businesses.
Representatives of the Department of Trade Defense, Ministry of Industry and Trade also reviewed Vietnam's export situation in the first 9 months of 2022, an overview of trade defense cases, procedures for handling common trade defense cases, and practices in handling appeals...

Vietnam is a destination for international corporations and businesses to shift their investments, therefore, importing countries are also concerned about illegal transshipment, in order to avoid trade defense measures of goods applied by this market. Therefore, businesses and management agencies need to have solutions to proactively respond to cases of investigation and application of trade defense measures, avoid losses, and ensure their legitimate interests.
