At the Department of Infectious Diseases, Nghe An Obstetrics and Pediatrics Hospital, in just the past month, 118 cases have been treated. From February 3 to 10, 29 children have been infected with this disease. In addition to children, there have recently been many cases of adults being hospitalized.
According to Dr. Nguyen Van Son - Head of the Department of Infectious Diseases, Nghe An Obstetrics and Pediatrics Hospital, out of more than 100 patients with chickenpox, only 2 cases had mild complications.
According to Dr. Nguyen Van Son: Chickenpox usually breaks out in the winter-spring season every year, lasting until the end of spring. Currently, chickenpox is in season, easily spreading widely in the community environment. Children aged 2-8 years old are at the highest risk of getting the disease; in addition, adults can still get infected if not fully prevented. For adults, especially pregnant women, chickenpox is more likely to have complications and is more severe than in children.

Chayote plants bearing fruit on the trellis, being thrown away on the ground or piled up to feed cows or use as fertilizer in fields is a "heartbreaking" scene in Quynh Lien commune, Hoang Mai.
As a local economic staple, however, this year this fruit is not priced well. At the beginning of the season, farmers were still able to sell it for 5,000 - 7,000 VND/kg, but the price dropped rapidly, especially after the Lunar New Year, when chayote prices plummeted, currently only 300 VND/kg in the garden.
The reason for the price drop of chayote is that this year the weather is quite favorable, vegetables and fruits grow well, other regions also have good chayote harvests, leading to supply exceeding demand, prices falling.
Urgent telegram on avian influenza prevention

On February 2, 2017, nearly 500 ducks infected with H5N1 in Dien Loc (Dien Chau) were destroyed according to the correct procedure. Photo: Document |
From January 15, 2017 to February 2, 2017, there were 3 outbreaks of H5N1 avian influenza in the province in Thuan Son commune, Do Luong district, Dien Loc and Dien Thang communes, Dien Chau district, causing many poultry to become sick and die, forcing them to be destroyed.
The cause of the outbreak is that poultry flocks have not been vaccinated against avian influenza; the rate of avian influenza virus circulation in large poultry flocks; the transportation and trade of poultry and poultry products during the Lunar New Year holiday has increased, combined with prolonged cold and rainy weather reducing the resistance of livestock, creating favorable conditions for pathogens present in the bodies of healthy poultry, as well as in the farming environment to develop and cause disease.
To promptly control outbreaks, prevent the disease from spreading widely, minimize damage caused by influenza, and protect human health, the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee issued urgent dispatch No. 03/CD-UBND dated February 7, 2017 on focusing on implementing urgent measures to prevent and control avian influenza in the province.
