Nghe An and JICA discuss investment cooperation in agricultural development

(Baonghean.vn) – On the afternoon of March 15, the Provincial People's Committee had a working session with the expert delegation of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) on the Agricultural Development Program of Nghe An province.

Attending the meeting, on the side of Nghe An province were comrades: Ho Duc Phoc - Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Council; Nguyen Xuan Duong - Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; Dinh Viet Hong - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; leaders of relevant departments, branches and units.

On the side of the JICA expert delegation, there was Mr. Yamamoto Satoshi - Senior Advisor to the project formation of JICA Vietnam Office and members of the Steering Committee of "Technical Cooperation Project on Agricultural Development Planning in Nghe An".

Overview of the work.

At the meeting, Mr. Yamamoto Satoshi presented some contents and programs that JICA has been implementing in Nghe An in the field of agriculture. Accordingly, the delegation has been promoting surveys on tea planting for the project of producing green tea powder; planting sesame; planting rice for sake production; surveying the Con Cuong orange material area for orange wine production.

JICA plans to survey rice cultivation and rice quality in some districts in late April and early May; from June to August, it will organize a high-level delegation to survey localities with strengths in agricultural products such as oranges, tapioca, sesame, tea, etc.

Comrade Ho Duc Phoc welcomed the investment and cooperation of Japanese enterprises and organizations in Nghe An.

Mr. Yamamoto Satoshi hopes that Japanese enterprises investing in Nghe An will receive support and assistance from local authorities and active cooperation from the people.

Mr. Yamamoto Satoshi hopes that the provincial leaders will continue to pay attention and support Japanese enterprises to survey and invest in Nghe An effectively in the spirit of 3-party cooperation: investors, government and farmers; at the same time, he affirmed that he will actively encourage Japanese enterprises to invest in Nghe An.

Comrade Nguyen Xuan Duong - Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee commented that the projects that Japan wants to invest in Nghe An are all suitable to the potential and strengths of the province.

Comrade Ho Duc Phoc thanked JICA for its attention and cooperation, believing that Japanese investment projects in Nghe An will help improve the position of the province's agricultural products in the world agricultural export market.

The Provincial Party Secretary also pledged that Nghe An authorities will provide maximum support for Japanese enterprises to invest long-term and effectively in the province. In particular, he approved the business contract plan in production cooperation between people and enterprises.

Comrade Ho Duc Phuc, on behalf of the provincial leaders, presented the working delegation with gifts of famous agricultural products of Nghe An.
