Nghe An and the highlights of the week.

(Baonghean.vn) - Let's review the outstanding events of the past week (March 23-29) that took place in our province, together with Baonghean.vn online newspaper.

1) Commemorating the 80th anniversary of the Traditional Day of the Vietnam Militia and Self-Defense Forces:

Comrade Ho Duc Phoc presented a banner from the Provincial Party Committee, Provincial People's Council, Provincial People's Committee, and Provincial Fatherland Front Committee to the Provincial Militia Force.

On March 27th, a ceremony commemorating the 80th anniversary of the Traditional Day of the Vietnam Militia and Self-Defense Forces (March 28, 1935 - 2015) was held at the Provincial Military Command. The ceremony aimed to review the 80-year history of development and growth of the Vietnam Militia and Self-Defense Forces in general and the Nghe An Militia and Self-Defense Forces in particular. In both wartime and peacetime, the Nghe An Militia and Self-Defense Forces have always been a powerful force in the national defense and people's security posture.

2) - Commencement of construction on the western access road to Vinh City:

Provincial leaders and officials from the Department of Transport participated in the groundbreaking ceremony for the project.

On the afternoon of March 24th, the Department of Transportation held a groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of the western access road to Vinh City, part of the project to upgrade and expand National Highway 1A, specifically the Quan Hanh - Quan Banh section. The construction of this road will contribute to reducing traffic accidents on both railway and road, facilitating trade and travel from Cua Lo town, Vinh City, and surrounding areas to President Ho Chi Minh's birthplace, Thanh Thuy border gate, and the western districts of the province.

3) Major Phan Manh Hung was nominated for the list of 10 outstanding young Vietnamese people in 2014:

Major Phan Manh Hung (born in 1979), Team Leader of the Drug Crime Investigation Department of the Nghe An Provincial Police, was included in the list of 10 outstanding young people of Vietnam in 2014. The award was organized by the Central Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union.

4)-Four people died in Nghe An province in the scaffolding collapse at Formosa:

Representatives from the Nghe An Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs visited and provided support to injured workers receiving treatment at Ky Anh Hospital in Ha Tinh province.

On the evening of March 25th, scaffolding dozens of meters high at a construction site in the Formosa Economic Zone (Ky Anh, Ha Tinh) suddenly collapsed, killing 13 people and injuring dozens more. Among the deceased were four from Nghe An province: Le Quoc Hung (born 1988, Dien Chau), Lam Huu Chinh (Dien Chau), Nguyen Xuan Hung (born 1986, Dien Chau), and Pham Cong Son (born 1981, Yen Thanh).
