Nghe An and the highlights of the past week.

1) Heads of Vietnamese representative offices abroad work with leaders of Nghe An province:

The heads of Vietnamese representative offices abroad for the 2015-2018 term attended the working session.

On the morning of June 13th, the heads of Vietnamese representative offices abroad for the 2015-2018 term held a working meeting with the leaders of Nghe An province. During the meeting, both sides affirmed that Vietnamese Ambassadors and Consuls General abroad will continue to pay attention to, facilitate, and support Nghe An province in terms of information and connections to expand and strengthen partnerships with countries around the world; effectively exploit foreign resources and assert its position – which Nghe An needs to achieve to become a prosperous province.

2) Over 34,000 students across the province took the entrance exam for 10th grade in high schools:

The exam took place over two days, June 9th and 10th. To ensure the smooth running of the exam, schools and localities throughout the province mobilized over 3,000 teachers to serve as invigilators and examiners, and over 1,500 officials, medical personnel, police officers, and militia members to provide security and maintain order at the examination sites.

3) Earthquake in Xiangyang:

In the early afternoon of June 12th, many mountainous areas in Tuong Duong district were shaken by an earthquake. In Mo Than village, Tam Quang commune, a slight aftershock occurred, causing houses to shake for about 1 second. Meanwhile, in Yen Hoa and Nga My communes, a loud explosion occurred, and the ground shook violently twice, about 10 minutes apart.

4) The 2015 Nghe An Newspaper Cup Youth and Children's Football Tournament officially kicks off:

The 19th Nghe An Newspaper Cup Youth and Children's Football Tournament officially opened on June 10th with the participation of 330 players from 29 teams representing 20 districts, cities, and towns in the province, including 19 children's teams and 10 youth teams.
