According to the latest statistics of the Department of Education and Training of Nghe An province, up to now, the whole province has 1,672 contract teachers and 268 contract employees.

Of these, the preschool sector accounts for the majority with 1,521 contract teachers and 76 contract employees; the primary sector has 48 contract teachers and 109 contract employees; the secondary sector has 113 contract teachers and 83 contract employees. The high school sector has no teachers or contract employees.

Among the localities, Yen Thanh district has the largest number of contracts, with 288 teachers and nearly 100 contract employees. Yen Thanh is also a district with many teachers who have taught under contract for decades. With a meager salary, they have to do many other jobs to make a living. There are teachers who are now over 50 years old but are still studying to "upgrade" their records, with the hope of being considered for the payroll.
