Nghe An: Building modern and effective agriculture
(Baonghean.vn) - The Department of Agriculture and Rural Development needs to continue to strongly restructure, build a modern, high value-added, sustainable and effective agriculture. That is the direction of comrade Hoang Nghia Hieu - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee at the Conference on deploying activities in 2020 of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development.
On the afternoon of January 3, the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development held a summary of 2019 and deployed the plan for 2020. The conference took place under the chairmanship of the members of the Provincial Party Committee: Hoang Nghia Hieu - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; Nguyen Van De - Director of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development. Comrade Cao Thi Hien - Member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Council attended and directed the conference.
All important indicators exceeded the plan.
In 2019, despite many difficulties and challenges, the basic agricultural targets were all exceeded, contributing significantly to promoting growth and successfully implementing the province's planning tasks, ensuring social security and improving the lives of rural residents. The estimated growth rate of GTSX was 4.97%; the number of communes meeting new rural standards (NTM) was over 40, with 4 district-level units completing their tasks and meeting NTM standards; the proportion of rural population using hygienic water reached 83%; the forest coverage rate reached 58%.

The internal economic structure continues to shift in the right direction. The structure of crops, livestock, and seasons has been strongly transformed, increasing added value and sustainability in the direction of restructuring the agricultural sector. The total output of grain crops reached over 1.2 million tons.
Although African swine fever has caused damage since March 2019, livestock production has still developed quite well, with a total output of 237 thousand tons of fresh meat. Forestry production continues to change strongly in quality. Aquaculture production has grown strongly, with a total output of 220,000 tons.To date, the total investment in projects in the industry has reached over 22,369 billion VND.

In 2019, the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development was awarded the Third Class Labor Medal; Emulation Flag of the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development (10-year excellent unit) for implementing the National Target Program on New Rural Construction; recognized by the Provincial Emulation and Reward Council as a Unit that excellently completed its tasks.

In 2020, the Agriculture and Rural Development sector strives for a production value growth rate of 4.5-5.0%; forest coverage rate: 58%; the rate of rural people using clean water for daily life: 85%; 30 communes meeting NTM standards, 2 district-level units completing tasks, meeting NTM standards.
Sustainable agricultural development
Speaking at the conference, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee Hoang Nghia Hieu emphasized: 2020 is very important in completing the province's 5-year plan 2016 - 2020.

Proactively and actively integrate internationally to attract foreign investment; develop markets, promote agricultural exports. Manage, protect and use resources and the environment sustainably and effectively.

At the same time, continue to prioritize directing and mobilizing resources for rural development, focusing on implementing the National Target Program on New Rural Development, hunger eradication, poverty reduction and ensuring social security.
On this occasion, 1 individual was awarded the Third Class Labor Medal by the President, 2 collectives were awarded the Emulation Flag by the Government, and 2 individuals were awarded Certificates of Merit by the Prime Minister.
