The accident occurred at around 12 noon on June 8 on the Vinh City bypass, through Nghi Hoa commune, Nghi Loc district.
At that time, the passenger bus with license plate 36B-030.23 was carrying 30 people, including officials, meritorious people, and prestigious people from Muong Lat district, Thanh Hoa province, to Quang Tri for sightseeing. When reaching the above road, the passenger bus driver discovered two trucks going in opposite directions overtaking each other.

The bus driver quickly turned to the right but still collided with a truck, before plunging into a field. The other two trucks continued to collide with each other.
At the scene, both trucks were severely damaged, one truck overturned on the road, the other was lying upside down on the road, causing traffic congestion through the Vinh City bypass.
The accident injured at least 10 people and they were taken to hospitals in Vinh City by 4 ambulances. Nghe An General Hospital 115 received 7 victims of the accident. The victims all suffered multiple injuries to the head, face, legs and arms; none of the cases were life-threatening.

By 5:00 p.m. on June 8, authorities had towed the damaged vehicle away from the scene, ensuring smooth traffic flow again on the Vinh City bypass.
