Nghe An: First instance trial of anti-state propaganda case
(Baonghean.vn) - On the morning of April 12, 2018, the People's Court of Nghe An province held the first instance trial of Nguyen Viet Dung on the charge of "Propaganda against the Socialist Republic of Vietnam".

With illegal activities and behaviors, on September 27, 2017, the Investigation Security Agency of Nghe An Provincial Police executed an emergency arrest warrant for Nguyen Viet Dung, for the act of "Propaganda against the Socialist Republic of Vietnam" as prescribed in Article 88 - Penal Code.

Article 88. Crime of propaganda against the Socialist Republic of Vietnam:
1.Anyone who commits one of the following acts against the Socialist Republic of Vietnam shall be sentenced to imprisonment fromthree yearsarrivetwelve years:
a) Propaganda distorting and defaming the people's government;
b) Propagating psychological warfare arguments, spreading false news, causing panic among the people;
c) Producing, storing, and circulating documents and cultural products with content against the Socialist Republic of Vietnam.
2.In particularly serious cases, the crime is punishable by imprisonment fromten yearsarrivetwenty years.
