Nghe An: Strictly handle all types of 'illegal' vehicles with foreign license plates and Vietnamese drivers

(Baonghean.vn) - Faced with the situation of illegal vehicles with Lao license plates and Vietnamese drivers causing many consequences for society, the People's Committee of Nghe An province has directed relevant agencies to take drastic action.

On June 7, the Provincial People's Committee issued Decision No. 2607/QD-UBND on the establishment of an interdisciplinary team to inspect passenger transport activities by domestic cars and cars with foreign license plates in the province.

With Decision No. 2607/QD-UBND dated June 7, 2016 of the Provincial People's Committee, the authorities will take strong action to deal with the problem of "illegal" vehicles with Lao license plates and Vietnamese drivers.

The interdisciplinary team is responsible for inspecting organizations, individuals and vehicles in complying with legal regulations on passenger transport business by cars with domestic license plates and cars with foreign license plates.

At the same time, strictly and in accordance with regulations, all passenger transport vehicles that violate the law (including vehicles with foreign license plates) according to the provisions of Decree No. 171, Decree No. 107 of the Government and other relevant legal provisions.

In particular, special attention is paid to checking and handling the following behaviors: vehicles without or without badges; running on the wrong route or schedule; picking up and dropping off passengers in violation of regulations; competing for passengers, collecting money from passengers in violation of regulations; carrying more people than the prescribed number; passenger transport vehicles without registering their business as prescribed; technical standards and conditions of vehicles...

Interdisciplinary inspection team No. 2607 is led by a leader of the Department of Transport and Communications with members being officers from departments of the Provincial Police, Traffic Inspectorate, etc. The inspection will begin on June 15, 2016.
